Hey guys I want to record my rehearsals/gigs on my iPad
I tried with an app last night but it came out distorted due to the volume level
I need an app that will allow me to turn down the record volume
Can you recommend an app?

Did you do the recording just with the mic on the device?

I would suggest mtdaw. I recorded a get together of a few of my friends and myself and I just used the devices mic but I could control the volume of the track by the input slider to have a healthy green and not too low and not peaking all the time....it was very loud in the room.....the recording wasn't as good as I would have preferred with micing each cab and a few for the drums but having the device in a good central location and having the mic pointed in a good direction makes a pretty decent recording I was pleasantly surprised by what I got.

I'm seriously considering getting a 5th gen Touch for my bass effects, and use my iP4 for sequencing, lyrics, and other stuff.

I'm told by the Apple guy, at the Apple Store, that the only real difference between the Touch and the iP mini is the screen. Are any of you running JU, Audiobus, and Ampkit, on an iPod Touch?

Have you verified your audio interface will work with the ipod touch? I found out that the JAM won't work with my 4th gen (darn it)but everything runs great on the mini so I suspect that if truly the only difference is the screen, you might be okay.

Gee, I'm not sure.

I have 2 interfaces, an IO Dock that I use with a 30 to Lightning adapter, and the POD 6 Sonic Port.

I'll look into it.

Sonic Port - 4th and 5th gen Touch

The Alesis iO Dock works with the 1st gen iPad. I can't believe it wouldn't work with a 4th or 5th gen Touch. I'll just glue a Touch holder to the 3rd gen iPad adapter and run a 30 to Lightning adapter like I do for the iP4.

Either way, I'm covered with the Sonic Port. If JU and Ampkit do well on the Touch, I'm golden.

Apogee stated that the iPod touch 4th gen does not have the capability of doing audio in and out through the 30pin simultaneously.. So while the input work, you won't be able to monitor what you are recording.

Assuming that's true, I would guess the other interfaces that use the 30pin wouldn't work with 4th gen either... Although I see some 3rd party websites claiming the sonicport does, so who knows.

I'm going to have to try and write an app for gigging. No one makes what I need.

One of my majors was CS and CE, so at one time, I could code my way out of a paper bag. :) But... that was a LONG 20+ years ago.

I need an app that has Virtual MIDI, Network MIDI, CoreMIDI, and MIDI clock send/receive, and these core features:
- Allows user to create and save 'songs' that hold MIDI information required to actually start playing 'songs'
- Allow user to create a 'Play List' of 'songs'
- At the beginning of each song, send MIDI information to MIDI hardware and software apps.
- Able to start sequencers, DAWs, and/or drum machines, via MIDI, that actually play the 'songs'.
- Able to set a pause for 0-99 seconds between songs
- Able to pause and wait for a trigger from the user (MIDI command of some kind)

Sounds easy, right? :eek: :confused: :rollno: :help:
I guess I'll need to find an app writing forum, but I'm not sure I'll find one with MIDI experience. It's the MIDI that's going to be the butt kicker.

OH!!!! My 2meter Lightning extension cables from China arrived last Friday. I confirmed that my Sonic Port runs as it should with 2 of them and the Sonic Port cable. I've got a cable that's over 7' long now, and that's a beautiful thing. I could still use a Lighting cable merge/hub, though. It would be nice to use the Sonic Port with something like the iRig MIDI. I really like my iO Dock, but a Lightning merge would be smaller and slicker.

Come on IK... Whip me up an iOS merge/hub box. :p

I've seen a bunch of reviews that mention: erratic noises (hissing, etc), iPad not connecting, random disconnecting/lockups, not stable in the cradle, and more. Most of those reviews were back in 2012 and reference ios 5. I honestly haven't seen any recent negative comments, which could mean all issues have been fixed or people just stopped buying the thing. You guys sound like the TB experts so I figured I'd ask you. The io dock seems so perfect and so tempting. But man, I don't want to buy a piece of crap.

I just jumped into playing synth with my iphone (to try it out) and got great results through my moogerfoogers. Now I'm gonna switch over to one of our iPads. I really want midi and audio abilities. I don't plan on recording, just synth playing.
