I did beta testing on the iPhone version, and it's fantastic. It's supposed to be released this week.

Did I read that takes a near a month?
Does it make dual amping obsolete?
Are there expansions to buy, or would we use Audiobus so we can have JU effects before the Bias amp model?
The answer's both yes and no. It's clear that I'll have too many things to fiddle with. I'll never play again.

I don't know how or if there will be expansions. I know nothing of the pricing.
BIAS is able to be inserted into Jamup, so when you're happy with your amp build in Bias, you send it to Jamup (there's a button for that) and replace your Jamup amp with the new Bias one.
And I'm guilty of getting lost in tweaking, myself!!

PG have many more amps on the waiting list. Many more then there are in BIAS right now

That means that you could run Bias to one Audiobus input, then JU with a different Bias amp to a different bus input.

It's close. One problem is that Setlist Maker will automatically go to the next song, only if you know how long the next song is. You have to tell it how long each song is. Ideally, it would be listening to a clock from a sequencer and know when the song was done, then go to the next song.
It's true that you can go to the next song with a footswitch. That's the next best thing. There's one or two more apps that will function like that and I'd be pretty happy with that functionality. It would be less then ideal, but it would work well enough. But.... It doesn't help me. There's no iOS sequencer or drum machine that accepts MIDI Program/Patch Change data. I have to carry a hardware drum machine, or laptop, to have patterns that Setlist Maker (or OnSong ) can change.
I'd be totally iOS driven if it was possible to make an iOS MIDI playback device that received MIDI patch/program change data. I want to walk in with nothing but an iPad and 5th gen Touch for gear. Now THAT would be nice, indeed.

Bias will run standalone without JamUp.
Audiobus will launch both at the same time and they are separately controllable so that one can run 2 different amps.
I just tried it.
It works for me, but my iPad 3 shows signs of being too underpowered to do it happily for too long.
I can't make up my mind whether to get a better interface or a newer iPad.
I'm thinking interface, and save for a new iPad when the next ones hit the streets.
I wrestled with the buy now or wait thing... I could have had an Air if I waited 3 months, but I didn't want to wait.
I have 3 different interfaces, now. The iO Dock, Sonic Port, and the Traveler Guitar MI-10.

Since I do live stuff, not much recording as of yet, the MI-10 does pretty darn well. That is, as long as you keep it away from your cell phone. When the phone pings the cells, it gets picked up by the interface. I expect it's not an issue in "flight mode".
In my opinion, you could wait for the next best thing, but the Air is 64-bits, and pretty darn fast. I have the iP4 and it's quite a bit faster then the iP2 and iP3. In fact, I'm running all my bass rig stuff from a 5th gen Touch. It's the same as the Mini but with a smaller screen and battery life. Even the Touch is faster (runs more apps) then the iP2 and 3, with the stuff I'm doing.
What I'm waiting for is the BT-4. If it does what I thing it will, I can use my Lightning port for charging the Touch. I must say, I'm VERY impressed with the 5th gen Touch, if you don't count the short battery life. If you can do what you need to do in 2 hours, your golden. If not... You got to find an interface that will charge, too.
In short: If you're interface works, then get the iOS device. If the interface is the weakest link, get a different one.

Man, I wish!! Nah, didn't get that one, though I'd jump at the chance.
I still use my iOS rig every time I play.
Unfortunately at the moment I need a new computer ( 2006 iMac is getting creaky ) too, along with
an iPad with enough power to run the apps I want to run without noises, pops, crackles, lagging, etc.
I want to get a SPL Crimson if it will work with iApps like JamUp & AmpKit because
it has some really nifty audio routing features & 5 din MIDI built in that would take
the place of a couple of other things if it works the way I think it will.
I'm thinking I can use it to interface my bass to the iPad, send a stereo feed out
to the board, take a stereo monitor feed back, mix "more-me", add ambient mic,
and send it all to IEM, plus it's supposedly a great iOS/OS X recording interface.
Complete amplessness, only problem is I can't get anyone to tell me that it
works the way I think it will so I might have to pioneer it all myself...
It's class compliant so everything should "just work", no?
I have more wants than my wallet can keep up with.

2 guitars gone, new 64Gb Air in the house playing "10000 Days" at the moment.

If I can play two amp sims into Auria with a few plugins I'll be campin' happy...
First drag so far is that the Ultimate Support Hyperpad LT I have is too big for the Air and they don't make one that fits.
I'll let it flop around for awhile and then break out the gaffer tape.

BIAS is not perfect regarding bass tone/ bass amps. Regarding clarity or grit BIAS bass amps sound better then the ones on Jamup but they lack some features which are to be found on Jamup like ultra low etc. also not having common power tubes as KT88 / 6550 doesn't help. But BIAS does sound great and offer lots of possibilities. I feel that there is quite a major improvement that needs I be done in several areas and aspects, but I'm quite sure PG will evolve BIAS just like they did with Jamup.
Been reading up on all of the iOS based apps out there... I use my iPad 2 with a Tascam im2 mic to record band practice, and I'm thinking of investing in an interface so I can plug in my guitar/ Bass VI for effects and maybe some recording.
Seems like JamUp might be the app for me. Gonna keep doing some research on interfaces, just looking for a cheaper alternative to individual pedals for my amateurish hobbyist approach to guitar (I've got nice pedals for bass, but none of them work well for the guitar playing I do). Right now I'm leaning towards the Sonic Port so I could run the out to my guitar amp (I don't play through headphones).

I've been using the sonicport interface with jamup and my ipad-4 and it works great. However, I still have to hookup a separate DI to connect to the sound system. Has anyone found a good ipad audio interface (lightning) with XLR output?
