It doesn't say lightning anywhere but in the included parts. It looks like they just made it a universal iPad dock. Everything else is the same.
Interchangeable Lightning and 30-pin connecters, it says. That's pretty cool.
I have that too, if you count the 30-pin to Lightning adapter I put in it. It looks the same Dock to me too, and I'm happy to say that I'm not saying "man, if I only waited a few more months."

Looks cool, they upped the bit rate, and made it universal. I don't know if they fixed the midi limitations, but it will work for me. I love the original. I'll have to keep an eye out for it when I update to the iPad 4.

As many of you have seen on my Facebook page, I build basses. I've been debating installing an Apogee Jam into a bass, just to have the interface always there.
I've been waiting for an interface that will fit better, but the Jam seems to be my best bet so far.
I may do this in a future build.

If Fender's Slide charges the iPhone with the USB port, they will be one up on many others. I haven't given up on trying to find a way to use my Touch for longer then 2 hours.
Having the iOS interface means that you're going to get a cord not greater then 10' long. That might do in a home studio, but not many other places... In my opinion.

The fender page about the slide says it's bus-powered, so it will probably drain more power from the iPhone instead of providing power to the iPhone.

Perhaps it was the 101deg fever I had Wednesday night, but it occurred to me that I may have been looking at the charging thing all wrong. Maybe I could get the time I need if I can power the Sonic Port from the USB cable.
I got the cable I spliced together, and cut the power wires to the male Lightning connector. Short version: No Workie. Then I remembered that there's circuitry on the v+ side. Then guess what?? It started working. As a test, I disconnected the v+ and connected the v-. That didn't work. And we already know that it doesn't work with them both connected.
My assumption is that since v- is not connected, that the power is actually coming from the USB port. This appears to be true.
As it is, I've had the little test riff in the Line 6 app running for an hour, and used about 15%-20% of the charge. While this is good, I don't think I'll get 4.5 hours out of it, but it already looks like I may have gained another hour.

That's just crazy enough to work. You thinking you'd remove the chassis and just route out a place for the proprietary jack on the bass, or wire it into some sort of intermediary like a lightning connector?
Haven't put that much thought into it yet. I'm currently finishing up a different build. I'd tend to lean towards wiring some sort of patch bay onto a control plate, and having different output options all in one place.
I dunno. I guess I've got some drawing to do.

I got a bit over 3 hours on the charge. I used to get 2, but 3's not quite enough.
Now I'm looking into inductive chargers that will allow use of the lightning port while charging. Since Apple is not QI compatible, the iPhones require an adapter. I haven't found a QI sleeve/adapter that allows use of the Lightning port, though. I may not found one.
The stuff there looks great if you're recording.
Those that gig for 4 hours a night with a Touch or iPhone can't do it without taking an iO Dock or Studioconnect. I should have picked up a Studioconnect from Sweetwater, took it apart, and put it in a project box.

I was looking at that too. With what I've learned about how the iOS device charges, I'm not sure the power jack will allow more then 2 hours of operation. A solid 4 hours of iPhone operation has become my Holy Grail.

I'm looking for a very fat, low rate, high sweep, chorus sound. I do a lot of 3-piece gigs, so I'm looking for something to fill some space on slower songs. With Jamup, does anyone have any suggestion?
At the very least, I was thinking that Midimorphisis with Sunrizer might be an option, if the tracking is transparent for a 3-piece. Also, is there much difference between the iPad and iPhone version?
Any thoughts?
