First post on an iOS thread by a female! Certainly one who like gadgets. Maybe Adam is a female, can't be sure when he/ she is hiding behind that mask, same goes for Rip, all of this hair and tattoos, can't be sure, maybe it is a lovely blonde hiding behind!!

YEP. that just makes sense. why else would they stay away from an upgradeable port since inception?

Apparently you don't realize that the Lightning connector does things that a Micro USB connector cannot do.
What makes me laugh is how quick people are to jump on whatever company has the largest share of the market and label them the "Evil Empire"....

Kevin The Moore - nope. haven't done a ton of research on it because i assumed it was like how they went with their proprietary dock connector originally. what benefits does it have?
Viking Pee - lol. yesh. there's always that. although i see WAY less hate towards Apple, even now when they are the most ascendent, than i ever saw for Microsoft. i've hated the weird popular image of Apple being the more free and caring company forever. i'm not a huge MS fan, but i've never liked Apple, so can't speak for others that don't like the way they do things, but mine is not a newfound disdain.

what's everybody's favorite piano'ish app? i've been using the IK Multimedia one. dig it. been on the free one, was going to pay for the full version to support. don't really need any of the other features but i like to give money to companies when i use their loot.
is there a more interesting one to check out before i do?

What makes me laugh is that people levy accusations at others without understanding the words they're using, let alone the history involved.
Monopolies aren't illegal. What's illegal is abusing one's monopoly position. This is generally called, "antitrust." Microsoft were convicted of abusing their monopoly position in 2000.
In what way is Apple a monopoly? They don't have a majority market share in anything!

FYI, recently bought Apogee Jam. Beats the iRig by a mile with the iPhone. I have yet to compare the Jam to my M Audio Fast Track Pro interface to the Macintosh.

Okay, so I did a bunch more research on interfaces. The Tascam IU2 is no longer being made/supported, so I'm going to skip out on buying that. The Apogee Duet 2 looks great and probably sounds amazing, but it has no MIDI in, and I need both MIDI and audio in. The next one up (the Apogee Quartet) does, but it's big bucks, and also fairly large. I want an interface that can sit on my pedalboard next to my MIDI controller, so the taller units like the Akai EIE aren't great either. The Griffin Studio Connect has the right ins and charges the iPad, but the design doesn't lend itself to road use, and I'm not sure about the sound quality. It also doesn't have any mic pres, which aren't required but would be a nice addition.
Right now the Roland Duo Capture EX looks like it's the best bet within a fair budget. It doesn't charge the iPad while they're connected though, which isn't a big deal, but it would be nice. I'm just surprised no interfaces have a native Lightning input yet- I figured at least a few companies would have started something by CES.

yah. i would be surprised if Alesis doesn't make a lightning port version available sooner rather than later.
sucks you can't find what you're looking for. the IO Dock is purrrrrrfect for me.
just changed the keyboard from the Alesis Q25 to the QX25. verrrrry cool. adds 8 rotary knobs and 4 pads. only played with AniMoog and IK Piano but so far thr CC assigning have been a breeze.

Works perfect, just listen to the clip on my sig. I play the bass in Jamup, then record it with Audiobus and GB. Evnagelos played the lead guitar, also Jamup - Audiobus - GB.
