I looked at that, but it looks very dated to me at this point... I was very surprised to see it only had a composite video out... not a vga, let alone hdmi or display port (for better quality video). Maybe you don't use the video out, but I think I might, and even if not, it kinda' dates the technology... well... that and the fact that you need an adapter for all the current iPad models, too, as it's specifically designed for the 1st gen iPad case.

You not only need the plastic tray adapter for later iPad models, but the iPad 4 won't fit in at all; because of the 30 pin connector inside the unit, attaching a 30 pin to Lightning adapter makes the iPad stick out of the dock, which sort of negates the whole point of the dock. I found this pic of someone trying it, which is kinda funny:

lol. yeah. i would NOT use it for a lightning port pad. mine came with the adapter tray installed, i didn't even know it was there till read that they needed them for new sized pads.

but. i don't use video at all. i'm using this setup as how i would a dedicated vst hosting laptop, and it's streamlined to just the functionality i want out of it. so for me good audio and midi ins and outs, charging, and a mountable shell is exactly how i want to use it.

i am curious about what the next Dock will look like.

I'm not sure if they're even making another dock. All I could find is that there weren't currently any plans to. Apple probably threw a lot of companies for a loop when they all at once made their existing connector type obsolete. A dock setup that requires a particular connection type certainly isn't future-proof, so who knows if they'd want to go that route again. I hope they do though.

hah. we played a show with this...... interesting........ band? from LA that, all the other silliness aside, had their laptop setup to run through a projector. luckily, they were having difficulties and needed help from the sound guy..... they had the hardest of hard tranny multiple partner stuff running.

i'm not offended by that, but the club was....... not happy.

gargeband and amplitube with audiobus support was a huge improvement for me. jamup works through this way too of course and i also used all three of these apps together on a song.

i just never thought that Garageband and Amplitube would never have gone to accepting audiobus to be used in there apps.

Good times for us the IOS Musicians right now.

I would never thought that neither. I was expecting GB to improve its amps and create ones for bass but they went for the easy one.

I would like GB to have some more production options in iPad, like fade in and fade out, volume controls and that stuff.

soooooo... this is probably been covered, but it's a fair bit of thread to dive through -

01) quick and dirty description of what Audio Bus is is an app that lets you send audio between disparate apps?

02) is there an app to slave all other apps to a tempo? preferably one that has tap tempo?

03) i like the IK Multimedia Piano app, is there other good ones to check out before committing to the pro version? or is that one of the better 'uns?

01) that's it

02) to my knowledge there is not an app yet that takes the opend apps and syncs them to one master clock maybe that will be an audiobus update down the road

03) I haven't looked back in the thread yet....but have you tried GB? it has a very wide variety of pianos and keyboards and organs and synths that are all programmable in the sense of different controls for each type.

hurm. REALLY want a master tempo lock app. that would be GOOD.

iiiii haven't tried GarageBand. because i never liked the desktop version and for piano sounds i like to blend them into synths, so the more stipped down and Just Piano VST version seems like the best option. i get hung midi notes in AniMoog sometimes already if i'm running one or two other things at the same time and forget to put it in airplane mode and end any app but the audio stuff i'm using.

GB would be more system resource intensive than IK's piano app ne?

I'm still amazed by how complete GB for iPad is. It's such a powerfull tool we have in our hands and at such an affordable price.

The only thing was the bass amp but with the Audiobus support it has been solved.

You have so many percussions, you can play the drums yourself, tons of synths, pianos and organs, voices and the virtual instruments might be useful in some cases. You can record a complete track with 5 different instruments in half an hour, export it and have in your PC.

I would like to have some more tracks (maybe 16) and some more editing tools, and I'm done.
