One other thing worth mentioning.
If using your iPhone to run amps and effects, ALWAYS be sure to turn off your alarms. They will still go off if you're in Airplane Mode. Lol. Ask me how I know?
LOL! This made my afternoon!

Just a standard 1/8" to 1/4" cable to connect the phone to the DI? Or is it something specific?
At the very least you'd need a power amp of some sort.
This. You will still need something to provide power. The iPad/Alesis won't drive your cabs.
I typically run into the effects return of my amp, which bypasses the amp's preamp and allows me to use just the power section of my amp. Jamup provides the preamp.
It will drive one of the newer powered PA cabs, though. I like the QSC K12 and HP112's a lot...
You know what that's a great idea.
What would stop someone from using an ipad straight into a powered pa speaker or even better one of the new powered gallien-kreuger bass cabinets?

I've been curious for a while about the mysterious drive requirements of the G-K powered extensions. I'd be interested in putting an ART Tube MP in front of one, just to see what happens...
If you run the signal into your amp via the effects return or power amp input, you can bypass your amp's preamp section and use it strictly as a power amp.
This would allow you to use one tone for everything, and have your Jamup tone going through your stage amp.
But your speakers on your amp are bass guitar voiced but the PA "should" be high-fi voiced so a cd playing or piano or a human voice or bass guitar or guitar "should" sound like the source....it seems that running into a specific voiced cab would color the signal more. I haven't tried it that way it just seems to me like it would be colored much different than what your sending to FOH. So it would be difficult to monitor yourself that way. But for just playing by yourself with just the amp in a room for practice you could probably dial in a very nice tone.
