By the looks of it I'm guessing this fest would be like a weekend listening to a UFC soundtrack........
You say that like it's a bad thing.
...but I'm not the guy that's been with them at IA before. I came back to the band after about 5 years.
Bleed Down is a very different band than before!
I actually like the Des Moines area. There are a few towns very close that would be nice to live in. To me, DM is a semi-big city with a small midwest town feel. Traffic can be a burden at times, but that's any city you go to anymore.
On the other hand, I do like Sioux Falls. So, that's a tough one.
Born in Ames and moved to NY when I was 6 months old (I had no say in the matter) and I'm not much of a bassist...so I will forfeit my number to someone more deserving.
Rush hour in Des Moines is nothing! My wife's family is mostly in Northern and Central Iowa. We drive through Des Moines during rush hour frequently. It is so mild compared to other cities traffic.
Not really an issue.
I agree that it is a nice city. Not too big, not too small. Plenty of restaurants, shopping, art, entertainment, etc. If I were to live in Iowa I would want to live in the Des Moines area, probably around Urbandale.
How is the job market? Is there a music scene to speak of?
I'd like to live in a place where people know their neighbors...
Here's another fest thing I'm apart of. It too is would be a good soundtrack to UFC fights.

@aquamentus. Are you ion a band? I'm from Southeast Iowa too. Have I seen you play? I'm in 20 Foot Forehead.
I will be playing the Farmer's Tent of the Mississippi Valley Fair in Davenport Fri and Sat night of this week. Should be a lot of fun!
I play in an acoustic-ish cover band called UGSTR. I've heard you guys on the radio about a zillion times.
I've been meaning to go to one of your shows but haven't made it yet. We should do some shows together. Maybe this fall or winter? Fort Madison or Burlington would be good.
