iPhone 5 has been unveiled...

So what do you do for work?

. . . .

That's interesting, how are the people?

. . . .

Thats horrible. I hope they catch him.

. . . .

What do you mean the potatos are cold?!

This has me cracking up. Mostly, because I could see myself in the patio of a Starbucks, sitting at a table and actually talking to a blow up doll. If just for kicks.

Apple now selling people things they didn't know they didn't want....

APPLE has changed its strategy to creating products that people had no idea they were not interested in.

Since 2001 the hi-tech giant has made gadgets that were the result of firing secret lasers into the public subconscious to find out humanity's unrealised desires.

But with the launch of the iPhone 5 the company has once again broken all the rules by creating a product that no-one expected to be incredibly unimpressive.

Julian Cook, who gets paid to have an opinion about smartphones, said: "They have obviously worked out what I know I want, which is this - if I'm going to spend more than £500 on a telephone then I want it to do everything that a telephone can conceivably do.

"They have not done that. It is genius.

"Meanwhile, I've no idea if they know what I didn't know I wanted because I don't know what that is.

"But somehow - probably voodoo - they have produced something that not only do I not want but had no idea that I would never wonder how I managed without it."

Tom Logan, a late adopter from Peterborough, said: "I really thought I would want this, but I absolutely don't. I shall buy two."

Helen Archer, who has a very large Apple logo tattooed on her forehead, said: "I can't wait to find out what else I don't want."

I love my Iphone 4S had it about 4 months or so now. Not a single complaint, regret, or gripe.
It functions flawlessly at all times, the battery lasts well beyond the time I'm awake in a day, it does what I want it to do, when I want it to do it.
Satisfied completely.

I couldn't care less about the IPhone 5, in fact I'm pretty disappointed in what they've actually decided to release to the market, I think they could have done MUCH better, and didn't.
Pretty lousy excuse for what is supposed to be a step up from what I have.

I've got multiple friends with the latest Droids <Samsung> phones, I've played around on them, used them quite a bit to see if Droid & Samsung have gotten past the phones that left a horrible taste in my mouth from years previous. IE; HTC HERO, EVO, Shift. All garbage IMO.

But the new stuff is phenomenal and I'd be thrilled to go either direction, Samsung has really impressed the crap out of me lately, my TV is Samsung and even that's impressive.
But their phones are top of the line.
I'd like to see Droid make a few changes still, but with Samsung pulling their weight quite well, it makes up for anything I previously disliked about Droids OS.

In short, THEY ARE ALL GREAT PHONES.

Not everything has to have a better and a worse.
Get what you like, use it and enjoy it.
Myself, well right now it's Apple, next year I may just venture back to Samsung, who knows.
Both have things that are better than the other, and both have areas that lack compared to the other.
Reason ------THEY'RE DIFFERENT PEOPLE get over it.

Good news for iPhone users with the new iPhone or any iPhone!
Supposedly they have more sex than people with Android phones. Should that be a feature? :P

Damn, that was an iPhone feature?

Here I was thinking it was because I was so handsome. No wonder my bill is so high all the time. :-)

I can't believe people feel so strongly about a phone. Jesus, some people need to find themselves a life!:D you don't have to buy it. I have a 4S and had no intention of changing regardless of the features of the 5. I change my phone when it needs to be changed. Some people in this thead seem to think their phone is a way of measuring their success in life.

Why can't they use a damn micro USB connection??????? As in 'Universal' Serial Bus. And why can't I simply drag & drop my music without having to dick around with iTunes????

Simply, because, for most people, iTunes is easier. Doesn't require use of the filesystem, and, since iOS 5, doesn't even require you to plug it in to the computer since iTunes can now sync over wi-fi. So, even simpler than plug 'n' play.

And, regarding the connector, micro-USB is just for data and power - the dock connector also has dedicated lines for carrying audio and video, so it can do everything through one port - one of the reasons why audio docks are ubiquitous for iDevices. There is a micro-USB adapter that's going to ship with all European iPhone 5s, to comply with the European directive to have a single standard for mobile chargers.

People also se to forget that the 30pin dock has been in use for 10 years since the original iPod came out. A 10 year life span for a proprietary connector is pretty good. I the new connector is around for 10 years or more it won't take long for the changeover pain to be forgotten. Personally I wont change until I need to since I have no need for another phone. No one is forcing me to upgrade my phone to keep up with the cell phone ePeen waving that seems prevalent on the internets these days.

I actually find iTunes hard to use. While I'm not an expert with computers, I do consider myself reasonably experienced and I organise my mp3s in folders. When I use my iriver mp3 player, I just have to drag and drop. With iTunes, you have go through multiple steps before you can add songs, and sometimes I've found iTunes would wipe out the playlist or add random crap that I didn't want.

In short - I HATE iTunes. The only time I use it is to update my iOS now and again.

As for the iphone 5 - I have to agree with the sentiment that it's not a huge revolution. I don't see any real rush to get it. I had a play with android on my tablet and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the latest android apps. It used to be that android lagged behind Apple, but they've really caught up.

Corbeau, for drag and drop in itunes, you simply need to check the "manage this iPod manually" box once you are in your iPod overview screen.

I must admit that the wi-fi sync makes it even easier, one less cable is a small step toward a cleaner desk !

Pardon my ignorance but does the galaxy have a removable sim card & a FaceTime feature? I travel alot & been able to buy sim cards overseas & FaceTime makes been away from my family so much more easier! When my contract comes up & if they offer me a new iPhone I'll take it!

I'm pretty sure it has removable sim and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a FaceTime cross over app.

This is the single most sensable post in TBOT.

I preordered the 5 today only because my 3G is now 4 years old and starting to show its age. I use a 4 for work. I don't care that it's not a 4S or 5. It does what I need it too do. Shortly after the new year, work will recall all the Blackberries and iPhones to switch us all to Droids and tablets that will run Microsoft Silverlight. I couldn't care less that I will have a Droid phone rather than an iPhone. It's still a phone and just a tool for communication.
