Iron Ether Appreciation Society

And before I get roasted, the clowns in this thread that “need backups” or “want doubles” of iron ether stuff. You’re hoarding. It’s the silliest game. I know it’s not everyone but I seriously lost respect for this world when I read that some of you are hoarding these pedals. I’ll admit I’m bitter, so if that’s what you are are thinking you are right. My opportunity to try an FMeron for less than $500 is gone and I missed it by 2 hours.

You've never seen someone with 3 or three of the same pedal on their board? I know a guy with 3x tube screamers. Just a page or two back we discussed wanting multiple XD sounds without knob turning...and mentioned having a few.

If people want 'em, can pay for 'em and can land 'em, I see no trouble.

It isn't all bad. I could have gotten myself an FMeron, I was on the site on time, had the money. I decided not to so I could buy a used EUB for a really good price.

Went to buy the EUB an apparently there is some tuning issues and other stuff (the headstock had been broken and repaired) and I was not able to buy it. They are taking it down for sale until they are sure it is not a lemon. Good on them for not selling me a lemon but that lost me an FMeron.

I am trying to take it as fate telling me I am spending too much on pedals and bass gear lately.

My head is telling me "well now you have some money for that EHB1005SMS you want....."

I think it's one thing to be a musician with a few backups of hard to find or discontinued gear, that you use regularly vs. holding onto many of the same pedals with intent to sell them.

Both have their positives and negatives, I respect each side for what it's worth.
Makes sense. I've gone through three 3-knob xerographs... cause I've been playing the scheisse out of them since Iron Ether came on the scene. I don't have a spare, but I should.

I'm not going to agree or disagree with you on any of your points. But the fact that - with everything that's going on in the world today - someone who wants a backup of an Iron Ether pedal is what has made you lose respect for it.......well.....that pretty much completely discredits anything you have to say.

It's all a symptom of the same cause...the ridiculous 2ndary markets. Would people want a "backup" or "trade bait" or even "one to flip" if there was no 2ndary market? It's literally panic buying with pedals. It's so dumb...but when you buy/sell a pedal for that extra $20 cause a bird in the hand or whatever, you are saying "yes" to all of it. It's too far gone to stop it...all you can hope for is to find ways to operate outside of the real world where supply/demand set the price and money rules.

I’m not discredited because people are hoarding them. Lol. Pedals don’t break if you aren’t trashing them, much less boutique pedals. You don’t need a backup that sits on a shelf so you can stare at it and bask in the knowledge that you own not one, but two, and someone somewhere can’t have it. Cuz it’s yours. And you have TWO. And one is still in the box and it’s sealed and it’s gonna be worth more someday. It’s like talking to my dad. It’s a symptom of childhood poverty.

backups.

amazing.

You guys talk about backups like Geddy’s tech talking about his wireless receiver. They have two cuz they are screwed if one dies from years of touring.

Your FMeron will be fine on your pedaltrain that lives in the basement.

lmao now I’m just trying to be a big mean jerk but it’s all to make a point. I have no resentment toward anyone that got an FM yesterday due to lucky timing or an alert. I’m happy for ya. Just hate the backup talk.

Or conversely, just to play devil's advocate for fun, early bird gets the worm and all that. Complaining about what others have and not getting something when it's wanted sounds a bit child-like. Akin to being in a store and acting up when their parents won't get them a toy when they want it. Seems a bit entitled.
