I think I may have mentioned something about a pedal for a backup on page 114.....

First off. If anything I said has upset you or caused you any unpleasantness I wholeheartedly apologize. I am on here to share my love of these amazing pedals the wonderful Mr Livingston has graced this world with. They are unique and worth the fight.

For the record my current (and only) Oxide has a broken clean blend knob on it. So maybe saying I am searching for a "backup" may not be the most accurate way of saying it. I am probably searching just for a good one for the time this one kicks the bucket.

Second I don't see the issue of having a backup for a hard to get pedal anyways. If it breaks I can't get one on short notice if I need it so a backup just seems sensible.

Third. The Oxide is literally the only pedal I have seriously considered having a second for because the sounds can be so different on one lovely pedal. I would love to have one for my heavy gated fuzz sounds and one set for my muff like fuzz sounds. Can't exactly bend over and fiddle knobs mid song or gig right?

However saying that everytime I think of buying a second I think of all other great pedals out there I have not tried yet. I cant buy a second Oxide till I have a tried an MBD-2 right?

Then of course the dreams of running 2 Oxides in parallel. Or stacked. :drool:

Anyways, I hope this may have helped salve any hurt feelings or misunderstandings that may have occurred here. That is never my intention. Just the joy and love of Taylor's amazing worldclass super pedals that everybody wants. I feel lucky and happy that I have been able to have the ones I have.

The world is a better place with Iron Ether around.

These posts about backups, hoarders, and pedaltrains in basements has me really curious about what the threshold of acceptability is for owning a pedal.

How many gigs per month/year does one need to have to be allowed to own a pedal?
How many times in said gig must the pedal be turned on for it to be acceptable to own the pedal?

If not a gigging musician, how many hours in the "bedroom" or "basement" must the pedal be on for it to be acceptable to own said pedal? Or how many "songs" must be recorded with said pedal for ownership to be acceptable?

Asking for a friend...

I have a whole board that is stuff that isn't on my live gig board. Then I have a whole shelf of pedals that aren't even on that. I can name at least one pedal that I bought just because the maker was blowing them out below half price and I haven't even taken it out of the box. And I have at least two pedals that I bought thinking 'that's cool, I'd like to goof with that' and I've just never plugged them in. My current live board has only one IE on it (Polytope) because most of the pedals I use live are MIDI controlled...though I go back and forth with taking the Dr. Scientist The Atmosphere off and putting the Nimbus SE on it.

Uh-oh. I don't gig or even record. Bass playing pretty much completely took over for video games and TV as my time killing hobby.

Am I allowed to own and have amazing pedals and Bass gear? Backups must be completely out of the question.

My pedalboard is almost becoming a living piece of art that I am lucky enough to be able to play with as a joyful toy and use as a tool for making music besides just staring at and sharing pictures of with other "art" lovers.

Hard for me to see that as wrong in any way.

I’m a senior in high school that’s worked a lot to buy pedals and basses, with my only regular gig being playing at church. Should I not be allowed to own a status headless since they’re hard to find, or my vintage p bass, or my stingray since they’re expensive, or my iron ether FMeron on the way, or my 3leaf Chromatron?

Anyone else go through the hassle of pedal-Tetris and unnecessary wiring/routing to have their IE pedals next to each other?
