I also remember when Manny joined the thread and had no IE pedals. He contributed all sorts of energy and positivity to the thread and ended up being tagged by many whenever an IE pedal was available. I even sold him my Nimbus SE. I miss Manny. Where ya at, @Emanuel ?

Why not just list them? Also I saw your post. You weren't selling any FMerons if I remember correctly so I didn't reach out. I'm loathed here anyway so it's pointless by now.

I'm still speaking to the trade only deals. It seems to have increased lately and I'm just calling it out. The community aspect is an illusion. People like to find ways to feel special. It's why fraternities are a thing. The fact is you all are in a club, IE owners, and my only way to get an FMeron was to be available in that exact one hour window this week and now there won't be another batch for years, it seems, given the component shortages. There are handful of people in here that don't want their FMerons anymore but they will only send them out to other IE owners. I get you are allowed to do what you want and it's up to the owner and all that. I just think it's hypocritical to boast about how this is a community that shares its love of these instruments.

I am doing all of the things you listed to be ready to buy, but that fact is almost every opportunity involves trading another IE pedal. So it's really tough.

I genuinely don't want this to go on forever I just sorta want one person to acknowledge it. It's a club, and that's fine. I'm not in the club, and if I wanna get into the club, well I have to be IN the club. I'll go back to my diapers and bottles now

I did it that way because it gave a chance to the people who have regularly said they wanted IE pedals. I'm happy to give people here 'first crack' at them before I listed elsewhere.

I've come to notice you just don't like a whole bunch of stuff. You want rules for people not to trade stuff or to only sell stuff in a certain way or whatever. Sorry there's not a concierge service for IE pedals. They're literally small production, boutique, handbuilt effects. Taylor only makes so many and with that and a certain level of popularity, that creates scarcity.

It's indeed one of the rare ones. I've never seen one in person. That said, the form factor & the fact that trem just has never been something I've really been that into haven't put it on my must have list.

Brotha, I'm asking for the opposite of this. I am asking for the special rules and special requirements to slow down a bit. That's all. I've been in this thread for a year or so and I've been positive up until this week. I've asked questions and inquired about people that might sell pedals. I'm not in the club though so I was told no every time. The same goes for the Discord threads and their "communities" of sharing these instruments with others that are interested. Trades only.

I've taken to inboxing some folks so I'm not blowing the thread up. Apologies for trying to join the fun the last full year.

I've been in this thread for a year or so and I've been positive up until this week. I've asked questions and inquired about people that might sell pedals. I'm not in the club though so I was told no every time. The same goes for the Discord threads and their "communities" of sharing these instruments with others that are interested. Trades only.

For what it’s worth, I think a fair bit of the “trade only” is a way for people to flip one rare pedal for another instead of listing it for inflated ‘market value’ and purchasing another rare pedal at an equally inflated price. Maybe it’s become more common as component shortages have made certain things more scarce and driven up prices.

Whether or not this resonates with you, some folks feel better trading unobtanium for unobtanium, rather than gouging and then being gouged. I get it…

I dont know what the hassle is, maybe its my learnings over at the Broughton group, but I've found its best to simply buy when in stock. That being said -

Just received my first IE pedal! So far it looks amazing. I passed up on probably 4 different XDs in the past due to price, and also keeping to my age with the "analog only" mentality. Well, I recently got a SA Reflex to control my Chromatron and I figured what better pedal to use the exp I/O on!
This things looks amazing! I work in marking and labeling for a living, and I love seeing how these pedal manufacturers create their products. From what I can tell the top is circuit board, but instead of circuit paths its artwork, pretty ingenious idea. Presentation is great, everything in the box is useful, not just marketing flare like some companies. Definitely look forward to playing with it, now I just need to find a place to fit it...

Guys, it's me again. I understand that I am a terrible person, you are all correct. But hear me out on this. How does someone obtain an Iron Ether pedal? How does someone own their first IE pedal when it's so difficult to get them from the site (no shade at Taylor, who I understand is cranking them out as quick as possible) but when used pedals come available they are trade-only for other IE pedals? It feels like if you are one of the handful of dudes in this thread that own a half dozen already, you can try out new IE pedals. If you aren't one of those guys, then buzz off and have fun praying to the reverb gods 500 dollars a pop. You feel? Like, that's what I'm frustrated with. Trade only? What happened to all of the gushing about how we're a community here that just loves sharing great pedals? I'll take all the name calling you can throw at me. It breaks up the boredom of a day in corporate america.

I went to the product page and where it says notify me when pedal becomes available, I filled out my email address and submitted.

Then I checked my email and when I got the email, I didn't waste time thinking, I just clicked buy it since I knew I wanted it and I know that flippers gonna flip and screw that. This worked for me for Arcing Prisms, and FMeron...possibly the Dubterrograph, but I can't remember that far back. The only reason I did those things is because Taylor announced in this thread that he was releasing a batch of the pedal soon. He made it easy...he told me which pedal to sign up for and approximately when to expect the email. Now I can go back to ignoring my emails (well, not really...cause Broughton does the same thing - emails you the moment it becomes available).

There really is no unfair advantage that anyone has...even you do the web scraping thing to try to cheat, these builders email those watching the moment it is made available.

You are right, it is an "in" club...it's an "in" club of people who don't whine about missing out on a drop, but rather say "oh dang, I missed the drop, if anyone isn't totally bonding with their pedal...hit me up". It's an "in" club of people who participate in the process by signing up for an email and buying when they get the email. It's an "in" club of people who post in this thread and participate and become friendly with each other and then check the thread for when someone posts a heads up about a sale. I'm sure we recognize some avatars and characters in the different threads we hang out in and some of them are our "friends" and others are not. Just like in real life, you don't walk up to a group of people at a birthday party and say "no fair, I want birthday cake" - instead maybe you walk by the party and wish the birthday kid a happy birthday, maybe strike up a conversation with someone and start developing a relationship and then suddenly you are invited to the birthday party.

I just did a search on your posts in this thread...your posts are all asking about how to buy the pedals and complaining about missing them. In fact, there were occasions where people offered to sell you theirs if they didn't get along with it...I'm not sure how much more "in" you can get than that. Everyone has been nice and entertained your questions, but you've taken to going after people who have pedals as the bad guys...the very people who would be the ones to pass along a pedal to you used (I don't keep backups, but geez, if I were to hit someone up for a pedal, I'd start with someone who had a backup).

Also, what are these special the rules and requirements you are talking about? The process is the same for everyone...and if you set alerts on this thread even, you'd have been tipped off with almost an hour to buy the pedal.

I've found it helpful to find likeminded folks that share your interests, keep a mindful watch on gear they're after and so they reciprocate the same to you. Even the most recluse as myself can network enough to help others, that in turn help myself.

All good points. And yes, I do have alerts turned on for this thread, even though the thread I'm most active and invested in is the Dingwall group (no alerts for that one!).

Probably most important is that when people find pedals for sale here and other places (Reverb, eBay, even used GC)...they post a heads up here so that others can buy them. They're not saying 'HAHA I bought a cheap Nimbus you didn't see it first' they post it here to help others out. They don't PM it to someone in the thread they know is looking for whatever either. This is one of the best places to see a good amalgamation of where IE pedals are showing up, for how much, etc.

Yeah, it's not hard. I mean, this is THE place where people actually might want to talk about the stuff that no one else in your life cares about. I have so many PMs going with people just chatting about gear, settings, life...the forums are the public spaces...don't be afraid to ping someone privately and ask them your questions there. You can usually tell if you are bothering someone or if they are into having side chats pretty quick.
