This is incorrect. Scientifically speaking more things = less joy. Science tells me that many of the things I do are bad, but carpe diem.
Yeah. I’ve seen your pedal collection… You should be extremely unhappy.
I learned my lesson… thanks to a fellow TBer, I now have a second Oxide. Won’t be flipping that one.
I miss zero of the gear I've sold and traded away. Yeah, I have fond memories of my GK 400RB-III, Conklin GT-7, Diamond BCJR, and 3Leaf Wonderlove. But if I really wanted one, I could get one again, and I got rid of it for some reason. FOMO is a real disease and I have no interest in succumbing to it. And my financial and living situation means I can't just keep everything I like. Someday I'll have more stuff than I'm currently using, but the idea of drowning in gear causes me personally more panic than joy. Part of that may be growing up in the wake of Depression era grandparents who couldn't get rid of anything, and their houses were nightmares. Another part may be moving across the country three times. But this is just me.
I am actually a pretty happy guy. I definitely get grumpy and like others can easily get swept up in the mass negativity of society and the doom and gloom, but my family is everything to me and they fricken rule, so I have tons of gratitude.
My pedal collection definitely does stress me out. It is a source of great joy and entertainment but also a source of frustration and overwhelming. I am a collector...I have always had the bug so in a way, my pedal collection feeds that personal disfunction. It's the only thing I collect...I always hyper focus on one thing to collect and when I am done I get rid of the collection and refocus that energy and resources in the next collection....so not really a hoarders hoarder.
Beyond pedals (ory collection), I am not really a "stuff" guy...that and my wife likes to get rid of stuff so it helps balance.
2nds of pedals to me is more of a hoarding thing. I get the desire for a backup, but realistically there are readily available replacements for everything...even if you are a touring musician who makes their living with music, are backups really needed?
I feel this way about some pedals....like I had an Earthquake Hummingbird on my board, it was a great pedal, but I had no use for it and sold it on Verb. If I ever really need it again it's not super hard to find.
I just took my Oxide off though, because I really have no use for fuzz, as great as this pedal is. I'm tempted to trade it for something awesome, but this isn't an easy (or cheap) thing I'll be able to just replace.

Yep. I think I’m up to 6 or 7 Smoothies and I’m about to buy another in a week when Cyrus releases the last batch ever. I’ve got issues.
