Iron Ether Subterranea

Sub into an EBS BassIQ is very nice too- quite different to the XeroD though.

I find I don't need any fuzz in between the Sub and Env Filter- the Sub seems to produce plenty of good overtone content by itself.

Yeah, I like that it eliminates that portion of the chain. Of course, adding fuzz after the SubT makes more awesome. But I find the synthiest tones are definitely without the fuzz.

+1

The Subterranea changes the tried and true combo from octave + fuzz + filter to just SubT and Xerograph. Add an overdrive, a tuner and a Polytope (or Oxide) and I've got a simple pedalboard to cover pretty much everything I do that will fit on a PT Nano. That's pretty damn awesome. Octave, envelope filter, OD, chorus, tuner and the most powerful pedal synth I've ever owned.

Considering I've had a G5, Markbass Super Synth, EHX BMS and Akai Deep Impact I think that says quite a bit.

Of course if I have a bigger board I'd add an Oxide, Frantabit and a delay. . .

So Mark what's the order of pedals you're running? And does the Oxide sound cool as part of it....and more demos please :p

Cheers

Ben

Hey Ben! Right now I'm going

SubT>Oxide>TAFM>Xero>Franta>polytpope>nimbus

I really like having the fuzz pedals there in case I need a second (and third) gain stage to freak it up a little bit. I do think the Oxide sounds cool with it, but it kind of brings it away from the true "synth" sound and more to the octave>fuzz>filter synth combo. I like having that option though.

I'm working on a video of me jamming my IE-centric board, but it is really hard to find time with baby boy Sterling #3 on the way and a very busy gigging/studio/teaching schedule. It will be done and when it is I'm hoping you guys enjoy as much as I am enjoying making it!

Thanks Marc

That's pretty much what I'd guessed for your pedal order. I'm looking forward to figuring out a load of sounds on e my various pedals come in (Subterranea, frantabit, polytope) and playing around with my existing pedals to create some cool sounds but it sure doesn't hurt to pick your brain though - you've found one or two sounds I really dig ;)

As for finding time with kids around - I hear you. I've got 9 month old twins and an 11 year old to try and work around with my job and music.

Thanks for your help

Ben

should be here soon HURRY ABOUT POST PEOPLE WHY DON'T YOU DELIVER NAO.

This is what im planning on doing when i get my tax back (hopefully soon), what do you guys reckon?
the green and red loops will be blended together. Affectively having just the Sub-T in one loop and mixing with my Octamizer and distortion and fuzz in the other. Then all this being fed into my Xero Dlx to my amp. Im sure i will be able to get a "Phat" sound from this set up. Gonna be a few weeks at least though. let the waiting begin.. and yes i used paint.

So, I'm just waiting for my EHX BMS to sell and then I'm placing an order... any chance of someone putting up a video review to make me GAS even harder?

mines should be here today or tomorrow. if it's today i might have enough time to get my head around it and get a vidja up before the weekend. got a show Friday and we're still nailing down 2 new songs, so if not it should be by this weekend.

lol. Sterlz is a wayyyyy better player than i am but i try.

That's funny. The artwork that Taylor and I decided on for my custom octave synth way back when was this:

YESH. TENTAAAAACLLLLLES. DEPPPPPPTHSSSSSSS.

hee. i LIKE tentacles.

HAWT. NAUTILUS.

Mine arrived today! :hyper:

Here's a little jingle featuring the Subterranea that I recorded for my upcoming pedal review/demo YouTube page. I'm also using the Source Audio BEF Pro as a static filter and the Source Audio Dimension Reverb for a bit of ambience. Use headphones or a good subwoofer.

I have a more detailed video of the Subterranea in the works as we speak. I'll be sure to post it here when it's up. This pedal is AMAZING and FAT! :)
