Iron Ether Subterranea

It has been my experience that noise issues are sometimes the most difficult to remedy. The design may operate without issue on the bench and with beta testers, but when production starts to propagate into the wild it will encounter all sorts of other pedals and environments that can make noise. This is always a potential problem with any new and unique circuit design, from all builders (small to large)… and detailed feedback from the customer is the best information that a designer can have to fix issues.

Now, what makes a difference is if the designer or company has the desire and ability to remedy the issue. Some will and some won’t, can’t or really don’t care. Taylor has always shown that he has the desire to improve his products and has the added benefit of being extremely well versed in theory and design.

I have no doubt that this issue will be resolved.:bassist:

Interesting.... do you think a HPF placed before it could help with tracking?

Eh..in a way, but only in the circumstance of leaving your bass full volume while not playing and not bypassing the SubT for some reason. Again, though, i do not find it a problem mid-song. Other than using a gate that you already own, i wouldn't invest in 'solutions' beyond watching for MOD news from Taylor

It is remarkable how badass this sounds going into a proton! My neighbor walked up to my dog and i and mentioned that he heard me playing last night.. when I started to apologize he cut me off and proceeded to go on and on about how 'badass' i sound

not tried that yet! will have to get on it. What else did you include in that combination?

Im a sucker for compression after 'bigfat' sounds, and the combo has a real cool sound through a good squash from my compressore. Im grabbing my micro POG and my new ps5 (why didn't anyone tell me about these) and a couple orderswitcher toggles, and going to see whats what today.

I REALLY want to add a synthesis-esque filter to the mix so if someone has a suggestion... I guess the xero is obvious

Cool. I'm currently using a BB pre to push my Proton for a faux-synth sound but I usually use it to fill out the bass with a low gain setting for guitar solos. I'm currently using a B7K for the later role now and I'm itching to try something new in place of the BB.

The thought of a clean analogue octave/synth with multiple voices is driving me insane! Even with the noise bleed I'm dying to try one out.

This is controversial but while I love synth bass sounds I've tried a few that have left me feeling indifferent, the Deep Impact included :ninja:

From all clips I've heard so far, this pedal sounds like the most authentic, phat bass-synth-in-a-box to date.

I wanted to like the Deep Impact but it just sounded so synthetic (heh :P).

The best analogy I can give (based on listening to clips and owning a Deep Impact) is the SubT>Filter is like a premium Angus beef burger, medium rare with some select cheese and fresh salad whereas the Deep Impact's like a day-old Big Mac.

SubT > Xero Dlx > Polytope. Best synth tones ever to grace my pedalboard (a board that has accommodated a Deep Impact on 2 occasions). Great stuff, just hope Taylor can sort the bleed out, have a bad feeling it would need to be a fairly substantial rethink on the overall design though. But it doesn't bother me at all, i don't use it with just the octave voice nor without at least the Xero. Would certainly like it fixed though, especially for the cost to a UK player!
