"Random blogs by common laymen". Yes you have played that strawman already.
Some rebuttals have been from scientists who were once leading proponents of the IPCC's claims. They were franchise players. That is until they changed sides. Now they are just writers of random blogs on the interwebs.

Ok. So here is the thing. I'm a professional engineer. When we design a building, or a bridge, or the like, we design in a factor of safety as we progress. Conservative design is a hallmark of good engineering. If you tell an engineer to design a bridge that will definitely need to carry a fully loaded semi, but also may have to contend with carrying two, fully loaded semis at the same time, which design is more conservative? Which design criteria would you rather have them utilize, considering you are driving the car behind the second semi? Now apply this same logic to the degree of climate change debate that is central to the IPCC report that is being argued about by everyone here.

And ChrisB2 - thank you for explaining exactly how we got to this point. I'm assuming your post was meant to be ironic, as the degree of arrogance, narcissism, and selfish greed was palpable.

It's actually more of an ad hominem, but whatever.

The sources you're posting aren't academic, they're not peer reviewed, and even if there are some people who change their minds, they're drops in a bucket. Not saying that individual views aren't important, but the 97% of the people who agree on man made climate change are all individuals too.

Yes it is. That's how it works.

If somebody came along with a better hypothesis that was testable and repeatable, that should become the new consensus very quickly - provided the study is shown to meet the evidential and statistical criteria required.

The fact is, the 3% (or so) of scientists that hold an opposing view here are not the consensus because their studies have been shown to be unrepresentative, unreliable and (sometimes) unethical.

That would be the IPCC. "hide the decline" ... emails between scientists agreeing to fabricate data... That all must be news to you then.

unethical, hunh?....funny you should bring that up, because it was unethical behavior by the climate change people who made me skeptical in the first place

i am neither an advocate for climate change nor am i one who says it is not true...i am a skeptic and will not be rushed to judgment by either side

however, i believe all this debate is going nowhere unless and until we get the whole world involved....it is my understanding that asian countries put so much co2 in the atmosphere that it really does not matter what we do in the west...true? please correct me

i believe that true or not, the man-made climate change people's real goal is a redistribution of wealth...and this i oppose strongly, whether mankind is the cause or not

if irreversible climate change is truly "imminent" we are cooked anyway, because there is no way you are going to convince a whole world of umpteen billion people to change their habits before an imminent catastrophe takes place

So you think we should do something like create an "Intergovernmental Panel" on say, "Climate Control" to bridge across national divides and make this global problem one that's handled by a global response?

Nope, 100% sincere.

And good observation. Yes - progress, innovation, and exploitation of the earth is exactly "how we got to this point." The point of being the most advanced species and civilization the world has ever seen (USA).

I'm extremely proud that we have "got to this point." I remember when I was young the scaremongers were warning of the coming ice age and the planet being so crowded each person would have just one square foot to stand upon all over the entire planet. Scared the crap out of me, and I never forgave them. I look out my window at the beautiful blue sky, breathe in the fresh air, and remember their warning that, 20 years later (20 years ago now) I would be wearing a gas mask and looking at a black sky 24/7. BASTARDS!!

But, since you were so nice to leave such a warm, friendly response to my post containing nothing against you, only my opinion, I dumped the used motor oil I removed from my gas-guzzling SUV today onto the ground in your honor.
