This is probably the best advice of any reply. Find a good teacher who will help you learn to read music.I wish you well in your quest. I strongly advise you to learn to read standard notation. A teacher can help you avoid going down the wrong path, even if you take a lesson every other week.
Don’t waste your time learning tab.
I’m in my 50th year of playing the bass and have NEVER been paid to read tab.
This is totally true. I play as a hobby, and put in 4-5 hours a day.In my opinion, if you want to do it professionally, it's a job. If it's a job, you have to put the hours.
And it also seems you are a beginner level player, from your words.
So, if it's a job, you should be at your job at least 6 hours a day. Half an hour a day is for a hobby.
You'll need to practice, timing, scales, speed, endurance, dinamics, etc..
Music theory. Learn how to read on at least the two major clefs. Be proficient at reading. Be available.
A job is a job. Sorry if I'm being too direct.
But I wouldn't even dream training half an hour a day and do my profession successfully. Not possible.
Also, forget about tab and learn to read music if you want to be pro-level.
I give (free) guitar and bass lessons. The only demand I make is my students must practice a minimum of 30 minutes a day.
So, that was the long answer. here's the shorter one: I would say 30 minutes is a bare minimum and I would point you to the "10,000 hours 'rule' "

Really enjoy this advice. So basically from what I understand is that I should practice bits of pieces of music. this means that my schedule for now should be fine? I want to change and upgrade it every week.
I have been playing Guitar for couple of years so no real problem with music, but could brush up my theory. As for bass playing I just picked it up again. I just want to record at home as a professional one day. thats the goal here.
