It would make more sense if F were the 7th letter of the alphabet but after counting it out with my limited intellect I have come to the conclusion that F is the 6th letter of the English alphabet. So shouldn't that trendy spelling of Fender actually be 6ENDER?

Not to quibble, but F# is the 7th of G major. Maybe you meant G7 (Dominant) rather than G major.

Well, F is the b7 of G, G being the 7th letter.
(b7 of 7).

If you play that note on a b-bender 7ender, you get a b7 on a bb7ender.
(b7 bb7).

Unless you parked you battleship on b7, then you have a battleship 7ender bender.

Indeed. I tend to see the leqading note as a major 7th and the semitone below that as a seven. Hence my answer. But yes...strictly speaking F# is the seven in the key of G.
