this is my favorite gorgeous /elegant bass ... like a grand piano.... Schecter Omen....don't own it, just like it...too fancy for rock n roll?...too nice to use though, I'd cry if it got a scratchView attachment 5421190
In this modern era of rat-rod/road-worn basses - does elegance still have a place?
No disagreement here; I'd happily adopt this definition - I think an understated & streamlined aesthetic is a good differentiator for "elegance".Elegance typically includes an element of simplicity - the design doesn’t have elements that don’t need to be there. I’m sure others will disagree...
Estwing make some really beautiful, classy hammers!

The mighty Alain Caron F Bass Signature Fretless. 28 fret fretless, cutaway up to here, a master's instrument, and as single-minded as a Carrera GT. Breathtaking, and to hear AC make this thing walk and talk makes me think I don't know squat about bass playing. A perfect pairing of artist and instrument.
The Aerodyne is hands down the most elegant bass Fender ever made.

The bottom Rick is definitely ELEGANT ! I wouldn’t be shy to bring it everywhere and in any situation.A few people posted picture of the Diva, and I agree. That bass is elegant. It's a bit too much in the purchase price, so I built a clone:

And I also think a Ric is pretty elegant.

Elegance typically includes an element of simplicity - the design doesn’t have elements that don’t need to be there. I’m sure others will disagree, but my aesthetic says anything with a piece of plastic screwed to its face to cover up routed holes isn’t elegant.
