Is everyone okay??

HA! This thread made my day. Thanks.

Personally, I'm at a bit of a musical crossroads, and I've spent a good part of the day obsessing on it. But that's a topic for another thread. In the larger scheme of things I'm doing pretty darn well, and this thread has served to remind me of that. Thank you.

A dude at the Oscars didn’t like a joke, and marched up on stage and slapped the comedian. And then he went back to his seat like nothing happened, and everybody else acted like nothing happened. Because a sudden burst of outsized violence seems like a normal reaction after everything we’ve seen over the last four or five years. The world is not okay.

Rec league sports dads sucker-punching refs, old Asian ladies assaulted on the street, grocery store minimum wage workers killed over a mask…people have lost their minds. How can it not get to you?

I feel better since I quit Twitter. Meditation helps, and I think I need to be more consistent with that. Eat right, take walks, control what you can and take breaks from the internet. There’s plenty to be concerned about without making a hobby out of bad news, you know?

They can cause trouble alright, but the ones around here are more like this........

I ran a 5K once, where I saw a squirrel DOA, in the middle of the street.

I looked over to the guy running next to me, and told him, 'Little guy must've hit the wall.'

Even out of breath, both of us had a really good laugh.

You may not realize it, but we're all loved. Laugh as much as you can... watch 'Gilligan's Island', often. Eat Reese's peanut butter cups, but only in moderation... cause I need a fix, every now and then. Take a walk... but not too far, cause you want to find your way home. Exercise... only to the point you work off the calories from the Reese's peanut butter cups.

Don't fear the reaper, folks. He actually has a sense of humor.

I had a pet squirrel as a kid. orphaned infant as far as I could tell. Trained him to do squirrel things and gradually released him. He did well. He came to visit for a couple years after release. Sometimes would grab some big cheeks of food but definitely was mostly making due on his own. He would just come by once a month in the last year. Sometimes wouldn’t even take any food. Just sit a spell with me.

Material can only extend so far at times. We can't control when we get low. I don't mean musically, here. Haha. I also need to apologize. I was not aware that you are in fact, a *sister*.
No need to apologize. I also assume people here are male because most of them are! Material does cover for a lot of needs, but not everything is that simple. Life is generally good, though.

I had to quit working to take care of my mom after she had a stroke. This after 45 years of gigging.

It has been challenging, to say the least. I really miss being a musician and playing with other people, but that can’t be helped.

I’ve been reading a bit of Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations lately, to try and gain some perspective.
There are times, and things, that we just can't avoid. Comes with the territory of being human and having commitments and people we care about. It is not easy always.

Gotta learn to deal with these things. I mean I could bet that it's always been this way, but now we all have access to social media and global media in general so problems appear to be closer and worse than ever.
And ofcourse there's people to trust. Just gotta stop trying to find people that have the same ideology than you. Instead find people that enjoy the same music as you do. Afterall that's our all uniting hobby here, isn't it?

Those problems are, in fact, closer than ever. I would expand upon this, but not at tb. And no, I have no ideology beyond opposition to propaganda.

Thank you for your concern. I am happy to report that my party band has more gigs this year already booked since before COVID hit, my ukulele band likewise, and job and personal life are going very well, indeed. I hope all is looking up for all of us on the forum.

Like you, I have been very, very lucky. I hope it all works out.
