Is everyone okay??

That's freaking awesome!

BTW you know you're not escaping this thread without telling us what you've plastered the Imperial Galactic Empire logo onto back there...

Oh, that's a Lenovo laptop that was in their Star Wars series. It was open box and a couple hundred bucks off, and I frankly didn't care what logo was on the lid. It could have been the Rebel Alliance or the Empire, no big deal to me. I got a very nice laptop for the $$.

Tbh, most of the time not really

Lot of people are dealling with a lot of shi*t these days - work, pandemic, family heath problems, paying the bills, war in the east, and the the certain famine that is going to result from it. Stuggling to see joy in it all. I find it helpful to pay attention to what others may be going through, and to be grateful for the good things in life and the kindness of strangers - the wonderful young lady at the Monroeville Guitar Center who pulled my newly purchased bass out of storage and who enthusiastically told me about the 5 string Dean she plays and the death metal band she is in - the wonderful luthier at the Monroeville GC who, even though he had a million things to do, took some time give me a quick set up and to reset a fret. Despite all the sh*t going on, the world's full of good peole

Me personally, I am better than ever and there is a dark, sad, and maybe ultimately hopeful set of complex threads packed into that.

The last few years have shown a lot of people a profoundly unempathetic side of people and a surprising lack of centeredness of many in objectively verifiable reality.

I was not one of those people. None of this was a surprise to me.

Spending most of my adult life as part of an interracial relationship in the U.S. south and working as an advocate for underserved people has left me with few surprises as to human nature.

Every person surprised by things in the last years, is a person I now feel less isolated from.

There is a pain in knowing, but there is also hope in understanding. It leads to the possibility of solutions.

I'm also in an interracial relationship and living in the US south. She and I both work in healthcare (hospital, specifically) so we de facto work with the underserved, though not exclusively. I feel you.

Between the pandemic and the wars and the general state of everybody yelling at each other, it's hard not to feel overwhelmed. Living in a "battleground" state with at least one supremely embarrassing halfwit among our congressional delegation doesn't help. Neither does seeing your coworkers and friends burn out.

The world seems to be going to poopie but you know what? I'm happy, overall. I have an amazing wife and great friends and I'm in a fun band that seems to be getting some traction. In fact, I just found out that we're playing with the Bouncing Souls (my wife is ecstatic about this). I also have our dogs and cats and our house. I'm good.

Incidentally, I'm sorry for anyone who's struggling. These are hard times, and I really hope you can get what you need to keep living and keep playing.

I went on a Bass Safari yesterday in West Seattle starting with Thunder Road guitars and had a great time there. Tried my first G&L Wunkay, a US Kiloton, US Fallout Bass, two Stingrays, a Dingwall D-Roc, and then best of them all for me was an American Standard P-bass with flats. Ha ha!

Went to 9th & Hennepin Donuts for the first time and waited 5 minutes for fresh cooked donuts.

I was grateful for the day especially after a long week at work.

Hey..

I just wanted to thank everyone for getting the spirit of this thread and pouring out the empathy in this thread. I also want to thank you all for being comfortable enough to share your struggles with the community. What you're doing is incredibly brave, when you sit back and think about it. It's a big leap of faith sharing like y'all have.

Thank you. You guys are great.
