Is Fender serious?

I love all the (usual) folks who are on every Fender bashing thread ranting about their prices when they are never going to buy one anyway.

Hilarious and lame.
Correction, I will never buy ANOTHER one. I've purchased at least 20 new Fenders since 2012. During that time the prices were reasonable, and scaled to the quality you recieved. The last 3 at least were returnable for bad QA problems, unlevel frets, unable to setup low, etc. I've since purchased about 6 MIJ Fender, and all were flawless. And I mean FLAWLESS. None of them were more than $1500 new including shipping and import duties.

I don’t need your council on the thread topic, I am aware. You don’t get to police people’s responses.

You are complaining about the price increase of Fenders MIM artist line, very different from the Player series, and I simply wanted to know if you have issue with price increases from other regions.
Anything non USA made that was created to be a sub 1000 budget line going up to $1500/2000 yes, I have a problem with all of it.

While this thread is about Fender, as has been pointed out, this is not just them. Leica just announced yet another price increase going into effect next week on most of their stuff. Leica cameras and lenses are already unobtanium for a lot of folks now become even more out of reach. Something I was looking at clothing related that was $350 maybe a year ago is now $495 as of this week.

Even if the reason(s) behind these price increases go away, I do not believe any of these items will go back to what they were price wise.

Fender would be leica if they didn’t move production there ,and if they survived would only make 10k instruments Nikon and canon ate leicas lunch , really hard to compete with super high quality cheap functional stuff

times change there will probably be no non custom shop maybe American vintage fenders made in the states in our lifetime , clinching our fist and yelling “but it’s made in Mexico” isn’t going change that

Neither will bending over for corporate greed
I don’t think the people that buy them are bending over for corporate greed , it’s not corporate greed when currencies change , taxes change , prices of everything change , my first bass in 2009 was a classic series jazz I think it was 699 , it’s now the vintera series and I think they were 1099 1199 before the price DROP to 799 ,that’s like 4-5% annual increase, not abnormal ,by your logic the same corporation is greedy when it comes to labor intensive instruments they pay a royalty to artists for using their likeness , but they’re the opposite of greedy with the vintera line , please make it make sense that’s 100 bucks more than 2009 prices , not sure if it’s a sale or if the line is going away or what ,if you just have some arbitrary number in mind that things should cost that’s fine , but it’s not reality , and it’s not how the world works.

Back then I think artist series was about 999 msrp Roger waters, dirnt etc that’s double ,5% increases will double the price in about 14 and a half years , that was 16 years ago so around 4% , exponential function is a cruel mistress

I'm more of a Linhof guy, having owned five of their cameras and assorted accessories in the past. €€€€€€€€€

I did have a couple of Leica CLs with a few lenses, and I still have my 8x50 Trinovid BA.

Prices on everything go up every year they don’t come down, there are exceptions for example real estate…That’s another incentive to buy made in the USA!
Thankfully, that’s all I have ever done when it comes to basses, Amps and cabs.

Were American vintage 1099 and 1199 back in 2005-2010?

I don’t remember the exact prices, but I did buy some of them back then…
I always buy the new releases of AVRI
I know they were a lot cheaper than they are now, but I really don’t worry too much about money, if I want something, I buy it.
During those years, I remember buying a new AVRI 62P and a AVRI 62J

I still have my 1973 fender jazz Bass that I bought brand new from Sam Ash for $241 plus tax and the case it came out to $306… I still have the original bill of sale with my name on it in the case.

More expensive than a custom shop today in real terms

This thread is about Fender, and the frequency and percentage of their price increases, which are ridiculous. I don’t care about other brands. I mean, I really don’t care that much since I would never buy a new Fender besides MIJ. I just find them absolutely obnoxious.
Obnoxious? I own two MIJ Fender basses, a '88 62 RI Jazz that I bought new in 1990 and still have, and a '00 Sting Precision. Both are great basses, gigged and well-loved. I also have a very recent MIM Mark Hoppus Signature Jag (I hate Blink-182 but love the bass), which I got for far less than the MAP. It's just as nice as as the two MIJ basses. None are as nice though as my '25 MIA Jazz Ultra II or my '18 Tony Franklin fretless P. I own a '66 P bass that I bought in '81 for $600. It's worth a lot more than the others but is it "better"? Not if I'm honest.

You posted 23 times on this thread, all a tiresome variation of "Fender is overpriced and sucks unless its a MIJ. and because that's my experience, all shall agree or be rendered fools". Or something, as if everything isn't overpriced these days and only getting worse.

Sad.

I don’t disagree with you but I will say that my Nate is the bomb. Neck is like butter, frets are fantastic, nitro finish is great. Of all my basses, it’s the one I always want to play.
