He may have gone straight in to record. That's typical of anything in the studio these days, then go back later and reamp the signal, or add effects, whatever.
Yes, we must always "think of the children" because they're just too dumb to think for themselves. Sorry but this is one of my pet peeves that people think entertainers need to always think of the kids. If they're marketing themselves to children like the Wiggles do, then they have a responsibility. The Chili Peppers don't market themselves to children. It was not my intent to sound negative, nor positive for that matter. I was just commenting on the irony of the statement. Flea is getting on up in years in terms of musical experience. When he was younger, running around playing in a diaper (now that was funny), I wouldn't have been surprised by a statement like that. The last few years however, he seems to have matured a lot as a player and musician, even though still largely an entertainer. When he made the vintage comment I was very surprised. I personally don't care what he plays. I enjoy it all for what is. I do imagine that a lot of youngsters who invested lots of hard-earned money into their Modulus basses were disheartened to hear him say that. I wonder how many kids sold there Mod's to fund a much more expensive vintage purchase, only for him to turn around and start playing his Moduli again.
I never alluded to him having a responsibility to anyone. Just made a comment that I wondered how many people fell into that category. Flea imitators are everywhere. They fled Stingray's to purchase Flea basses when he made that switch. I wonder how many are now trying to find a vintage jazz.Yes, we must always "think of the children" because they're just too dumb to think for themselves. First off, no kids buy $8000 basses unless their parents are filthy rich. And any kid who's been able to work and make the thousands of dollars it takes to buy one is obviously responsible enough to answer to himself. And if he's dumb enough to base every single gear decision he makes on what Flea's playing this week, then it's his money and his problem when Flea switches. Flea owes the kids nothing other than to do his best when he goes onstage or in the studio. And he does. Let's quit trying to protect the kids from everything. Let them sort it out for themselves. I know sometimes kids act like they're brainless, but they're not![]()

Honestly I'm really REALLY curious as to how Flea (and others like Stefan) are getting all these Lane Poor pickups (maybe pre's too!) for their new basses. I mean are they taking them out of old ones or what?
Always made me wonder as they haven't been in production for quite some time...?![]()
I asked Tracy (Flea's tech) about that. Hopefully I'll hear back from him soon. My first question to him was if he kept swapping out the lane poors from Flea's older basses and if he really thought the lane poor was that much better.
According to Modulus, the Seymour's now in the Flea's are as exact a copy as they could make. They sent S-D a LP 4 and 5 pickup, respectively, and said "Copy it" or so I've heard.
Also here and other places those two are the closest alike of the MM-style pickup.
That's what I have in mine and it sounds great.
Hehe, you probably heard the "copy it" thing from me. I spoke with Modulus about that and I post it a lot on here![]()
It does sound pretty close and I can't imagine Flea caring about the lane poor.
ha, you're prolly right, even in this thread!
true, which is why i wonder why even in his new camo/sunburst it has the LP in it, which you can easily tell in the picture. cause it sure as hell isn't an endorsee contract or something!![]()

With 'now' you mean that 2006-2007 basslines sounds more like Lane Poors, and not the 2004 ones?
Because I've had a 2005 Modulus, and now I have changed it for a 2004 flake blue one, and the pickups looks a little different and sounds a little different.. I need to know that if it's possible, I can probably still get back my old pickups..
