Sounds like my elderly next door neighbour.

Most mornings I go round to see her and have a coffee and a chat. She always used to say it was to make sure she hadn't passed away in the night and if we talked about anything in the future she would always say "If I'm still here then".

Once she got to 80 she stopped saying these because she felt she was tempting fate.

Anyway, a subway 410 or 212 would be a great thing. The powerhouse series are great but weight a ton!! That's the only reason why I use my SWR GIII instead of the Mesa

She's got something to look forward to: for his 100th birthday I gave a man a ride on my motorcycle. It's the best gift I ever gave someone [well, someone who's not my wife] and I've received no gift to compare with that feeling. His daughter told me that his feet didn't touch the floor for weeks!

To some players, sure, but there are PLENTY of players who actually prefer the traditional 410 format even when trying/comparing the two configurations side by side.

Because that's what they prefer (and it[s a pretty overwhelming preference at that), discounting their preferences and opinions is simply foolish (and somewhat insulting IMO), just like discounting the opinions of players who prefer a vertical 410 would be foolish. One configuration doesn't automatically discount the other.

When you play little and mid venues it could be right, however, big festival stages I just say no.

Didn't say they were "wrong". Myself, I'm willing to forgo the awesomeness of a focused bass "bath" for a more even stage and audience coverage. Heck, I was even using a 4x10 Friday night at rehearsal - old Peavey TVX that someone gave me because it's too stoopid heavy to gig LOL.

I'm in the same boat too.
I find today's amps and cabs just sound synthetic to my ears.
Markbass, Fender, Hartke, Gallien Krueger, Aguilar are all the brands I've owned, borrowed or tried and nothing compares to my Australian made, solid state Labsystem bass amp and 410 cab. Sometimes I use the amp with an old Trace Elliot 410 cab and still nothing compares to it..

Nothing gets me that old school tone. Think Pretenders Back on the Chain gang or Jah Wobble in PIL.

I am prepared to lug around heavy equipment if I'm satisfied with the sound. A good trolley and a nice set of wheels and if all else fails take one of your kids or grandkids with you to help. They will love the new experience and hopefully get hooked on music.

I've said it before and I will say it again: Schlepping gear is good for you. Get a dolly and casters and rip it up! If a gig is upstairs with bad parking I'm going ampless anyway. However I would not say nay to an endorsement
micro from Mesa.
