so OP wants a bass with custom specs and trim choices to be a standard model?
Custom Specs? Custom Trim? the fekking parts are already manufactured and laying around the factory...nothing custom about it...it just get's bolted together

What a sad world we live in. To have to assemble something yourself is a tragedy. I like fried eggs and bacon, and they don't come in the same package. I want to know why

actually they do...just heat and serve...
He wants a p-bass with a jazz neck, block'd and bound'd
He wants a sunburst p-bass with a jazz neck, block'd and bound'd, that sounds "custom-esque"-ly specific to me
That's like saying I never bought a Ford pickup that I didn't have to modify. Maybe you just don't like Ford pickups. Or Fender Precisions. Should either of them make a production model to suit your taste? Sure if it makes economic sense. The R&D department in each company says otherwise.I have never been able to buy an "off the shelf" Fender that I didn't have to modify
Just do it yourself. The beauty of "bolt" on necks! People have been slapping Jazz necks on P basses for 40+ years.
Fender makes a sunburst P bass in several product lines....they also make bound and blocked necks in several product lines...it would not require any special tooling or custom anything...they just have to bolt parts they already make together and ship it out the door.....how is that custom? Because they don't currently offer it? That's the whole damn point of this thread...They should

Fender's response to your "letter" - "Thanks for your input. We have forwarded it to our development department for consideration".
Then the Consumer Relations department gets involved and adds "At Fender we value the opinions of our customers. We appreciate your contribution to the development of our product line".
I was shocked at how much it costs by the time I added everything up I needed for a complete bass.Warmoth - and you can select the exact body weight / finish.
not very realistic...in contrast to what I'm asking which again the parts are already laying around the factory....no real effort required to bolt them together
