H. P. Hood dairy offered quart bags of milk in the late 60's. It may have been only available if you had a milkman which we did when I was a kid and it may have been a test marketing thing limited to Western Mass. It didn't catch on, and I am just as happy that it didn't. Some things aren't just meant to be here in the States: milk bags, dollar coins, the metric system. Not that there is anything wrong with any of the above, just a lack of love in the US of A.

In Canada, all they have are coins - no paper one dollar bills.

We have both, but I never use them and I don't see them in circulation.

Can you imagine what would happen if our government tried to take paper dollar bills out of circulation so that you had to use coins? I and most of the country would be ticked off. Therefore, as much as the US Treasury wants to get rid of the dollar bill and would save money doing it - it ain't gonna happen.

To tie it back to milk bags. If we don't let the government jam dollar coins down our throat, do you think we will let dairies jam us with milk bags. No way!

That is not to imply that one country is right or wrong - just different strokes.
