Thanks for the clarification. You nearly quoted me verbatim, except for the important main point I was making. Some people dive headlong into aesthetic decisions without nearly enough forethought, it sometimes later blows up in their face, and I was only warning against that.

For the record, I didn't pass judgment of any kind or discourage anyone from decorating a guitar. I've done it to several of mine when it is a reflection of my personality, has meaning to me, and is contextually appropriate. No regrets. And that's how it should be.

If you're not sure about it, hold off. There are lots of reasonable, rational pros and cons to consider, and not everyone discouraging it is an "elitist."

I agree. But there were other posts without the cerebral, philsophical musings that were clearly being QUITE narrow minded. I did not, for the record even recall your previous post. I wrote the phrase spontaiously, without plagerism.

I would have said yes a couple years ago, but I was on the road, in the back of a vehicle and bored out of my mind playing my bass one day, and putting a sticker on it seemed like the right thing to do. It's now got a total of four on it, and I'm always looking for really good ones to add to it.

Slap sticker all over it, slap on one or two, keep it free from stickers--if it's your bass--go for it.
I'm in the non sticker camp--but it doesn't bother me what you do to your bass--but if I go to buy it used & there are stickers or sticker residue on it--I would expect a lower price than a non stickered bass.
(And one used bass I looked at had stickers on it at one point--and it was cheaper for that reason)
But then resale isn't a concern for everybody (It isn't for me)
