This is one of the finest looking basses I've ever laid eyes on. You should definitely put this in the 'Best looking bass on Talkbass" thread. I see that you live in Clovis. I'll bet you know where Auberry is. I lived in Auberry for 8 1/2 years. How many TBer's can say that?

M. M. :)

Thanks, and about Auberry? My guess would have been zero until you chimed in ;) - Actually my nephew lives in Auberry and my better half just stopped working in Prather.

I bought a Modulus neck from Geoff Gould back in the 80's. He was super-cool. I was just some teenaged kid who wandered into his shop and he sold me a leftover jazz neck he had laying around for a couple hundred bucks. He slapped it on to an Ibanez Roadstar I had. He didn't even charge me to install the neck. That bass got stolen a few years later.

I'm not even into graphite basses anymore, but it would be super sad if they're gone. It was pretty awesome of Geoff to help out some clueless, enthusiastic kid.

I hope you get your bass back.

WITH all due respect:

Going on endlessly about how Modulus fails at CS when it has been noted/explained about 100X over & over again that it is not their business model; never has been, probably never will be -seems pretty odd to me.

They make an outstanding bass, they don't schrew anyone-
What is is you want?? A Company pen??

OP got his bass back; as far as I can tell NOBODY has been nor will be kicked to the curb by Modulus.

So point taken. They don't return (your) calls. Either do many of the ladies you (try) to date I'll bet! (jk)).

Now as far as that Q4- Great bass, horrid background! (jk)

Well, maybe not so much!

Then they should have a disclaimer by the phone number/email that says they will never call you back or respond. Everyone on here is speculating including the people who say it's not their business model. Only people that could answer that would be employees.

And my wife ALWAYS calls me back ;)

You guys are ridiculous. I thought I was bad... I don't see any mention of Modulus being closed on Bass Central's site. This thread has gotten out of hand and I suggest the moderators delete it before you harm any future business for a decent company. Go through a dealer guys, and be patient! Modulus is a small company with a high demand. If anything this thread has made me reconsider selling mine!

No actually it was there for about a day - I saw it.

Talk about bad sale practice - let us scare everyone to buy the "Last" Modulus basses around - yeah right.

Quite a thread; quite a read. In the span of what, a few days, there's a lot of rumble over what's happening to/has already happened with Modulus Guitars.

I read some well-stated views, and others that reminded me of that crowd with the pitchforks and all, ready to hang the victim whether guilty or not!

IMO- Nobody here knows- and that MAY include the powers that be at Modulus!- what the future holds. Chances are they are dealing with the many aspects that come with running a small mfg. business, including payables, receivables, purchasing, and much much more.

Some posters were VERY guilty of the "Point A to Z" method of behavior. That is to say:
"They're out of business, and all will lose their instruments and/or deposits...""
Not good behavior in my view.

The OP reported, his bass is coming home!
Others with some sourcing- endorsements, through reputable dealers, have reported that Modulus will return soon after it's re-structure.

IME, Modulus has always had a zero CS policy- They are a Dealer Oriented business.

I found this vid- IMO it says a lot.
Many mfrs. have spokespeople like game-show hosts, all sparkly, bubbly.
Not him!

Very dry, almost uneasy public speaking, very low-key presentation to say the least.

I think it shows that these fellows build great bass guitars, sell them through a dealer network, and really-
They don't want to interface with us players.
If that sets some off, I totally understand; and would recommend NOT buying a Modulus.

I have my FU4, it is a gem. I have no need to talk with them about it, my issues (there were none) would have been addressed with the Dealer.

I do hope everybody here wishes the best for Modulus Guitars.
They've made a BIG mark in the bass guitar field.

Everything you said is right and a very good attitude.

In your vid is Joe P. He builds the basses we all love, great guy and will go out of his way to help you.

Like I said, let them do their work. Maybe all of us complaining about Modulus here will keep us from bothering them on the phone or email and that is a good thing.

Just wondering - are there threads here about Fender buying companies like SWR and Genz and now ending the SWR and possible Genz products.

Question would be whether they are still operating at all (right now) and if so, would they be working on a Saturday? I'm really curious what you'll find there - it may be a worthless effort, it may not be, but as close as you are, it's certainly worth a drive by (no pun intended for type of area it's located in ;) )

Wow - is this like going by your girlfriends house at night to see if another guy is there. lol

Seems like a waste of time and gas just to go by there.

Hey - lets make this a Modulus funny story thread now. We have talked this to for out.

I remember the first NAMM I was at in Nashville and I think her name was Jan and Rich R, were running the booth from Modulus.

Well on the second day she was fixing to have her baby and got sick that morning; and Rich R was hung over from the night before. So the show opened and there was no one to open and run the booth for about an hour into the show.

I saw it on the Bass Central site also. It was on the Modulus Vintage Jazz page.
It said that no more Modulus were being produced at this time.
Basses that have sat on that page unsold for ages all sold bar one within days.
Modulus are restructuring. They are still taking orders. Speak with your Modulus dealer if in doubt.

Yeah, I doubt I will buy anything from Bass Central again either. That is pretty shady.

Of course it could be true but Modulus wanted to make the announcement and not one of their dealers. They might want to contact all the dealers/endorsers first. Telling MF they were 3 months behind is perfect bc once 1 person know there then immediately everyone would know. Who knows at this point.

We just need to sit tight and wait on JP. He is a TB member....as is AP.
