Is Modulus still in Business?

Just imagine how bad-ass Mike Gordon would sound if he wasn't picking a Modulus! Imagine the tone if he was rocking a Roscoe -- like a boss!!!

I bet Mike Gordon is playing a Modulus because he likes them! If he wanted a Roscoe he could easily obtain one.

In any event, this thread is not about whether someone likes Modulus basses or not, it's about trying to determine if the company is still in business.

Here's what I heard today. Modulus is still in business. They had layoffs, but the lights are still on. They are switching phone systems and the new phone number will be updated soon on their website. All projects in house including repairs will be completed and shipped. They are very shorthanded at the moment, but they believe they will resume new production soon. Please hang in there!:)

This COULD present an interesting delimma if its true...do I keep my Q5 in the hopes that the value might go up if they become semi-"unobtanium" or get rid of it now while the getting is ok?

That really sucks though, baird. I'm sure you'll get your bass back, but the lack of communication is certainly irritating at the very least. I remember sending an email to Modulus last year some time, and getting no response(heck, even Fender responded to an email, albeit 3 weeks later, but they DID respond). As much as I like my Q5W, I'm really GASing for an American Deluxe Jazz Bass V...

I've heard the same thing about GC as well...:hiding:

Perhaps this is one of the companies Juaqo (sp?) was referring to when he said several companies would be going under.

No I was referring to some bass amp companies.

Modulus isn't going any where and they have always been a small operation.

I called today and left a voice message.

I have a 6 string fretless in the works.

J, you and I have similar tastes (besides our Dingwall Prima Voodoo's). If I were to buy one bass in addition to my Dingwalls, it would be a Modulus Q6 fretless! What are the spec's?

BTW, I wish we had similar skills! ;)
