I read this article on yahoo and I have to say that I was a bit stunned. First of all by the fact that any of these bands are considered punk. Some in their present form and some were never punk. I have been a punk fan for a long time but I have to say calling the bands discussed in this article punk is like calling Michael Bolton a rock star IMO. I have to say that I believe that punk is not dead as long as there are bands out there like NOFX and Bad Religion. But as is the case here and most of the time, the truly good bands get little attention and the sanitized MTV friendly bands carry the flag. I think it's sad that these bands are even in the punk category. Green Day you could make a case for twelve years ago but not so much now. Maybe the same is true for Blink 182. I think the flaw in this article is that the writer is looking to the wrong bands to support the argument that punk is dead. Maybe it's not burning up the charts but it's far from dead.
