OK, here goes....Punk in the UK during the mid 70's was really a political/social statement. I won't get into it here, but it was an attitude that really needed to be brought forward, and our music was the perfect format. The fashions and hairstyles that came with it were, for better or for worse, all part of that. In America here, it seemed to lack the anger, but was good none the less. Today, alot of bands just want the look, and seem to forget that the music was angry music, and the lyrics were angry lyrics. Like 'a1bassguy' said, punk has evolved, and there is nothing wrong with that. A certain Mr. Lydon once said, "Then, I was an angry young man, now I'm an angry old man.....but I'm still angry!" As long as we keep that feeling, punk will never die!
you do realize without the Ramones the sex pistols or the clash never would of been right? Just as the Sex pistols inspired Roger Miret(agnostic front, disasters), Cromags, Sick of it all which is a much harder and angrier version than its UK counterpart.
