Here ya go @Wumper. This might help.
Wow!, The cab sounds alright, nothing too special to be honest, but what he plays around 2:40 is killin'! I'm gonna learn what he played around 2:40 on upright bass! haha..

I'm pretty sure that's straight wump'n right there.I'd hate to have to make a decision based solely on that video....
I nominate this for best post of the year. In case it doesn't win that, I also nominate it for best summary on talkbass 2018. Don't forget to vote early and vote often. This thread is... I don't actually think I can describe it!
What I get so far is:
- Someone asked about a boom box, following it with a "wump wump"
- Some other people then proceeded to pick faults with said boom box.
- After some more "wump wump"-ing, another person comes along to defend the boom box from the attack by people that have something to do with fearing a green child.
- Lots more sarcasm goes around, some more "wump wump"s and then some homie buys an SWR, which I believe is a very fast station wagon.
Did I get this right?
No one can, other than purely subjectively. But that's not the point. For years you've made claims with no objective evidence to back them up. Now we have a number of players here that say from a subjective viewpoint they don't do what you claim either. I'm not saying that fearful is all that much better where the data is concerned, but at least they don't make claims that aren't backed up by facts. So to make an unnecessarily long thread even longer but at least answer the OP's question, if all you can go by is what people who've heard both think then fearful is the better brand.you say that you can't explain how the cab functions WITHOUT ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: a cutaway view, an impedance plot, an SPL plot and polar plots.
So to make an unnecessarily long thread even longer but at least answer the OP's question, if all you can go by is what people who've heard both think then fearful is the better brand.

Better for who and for what reasons? Isn't better somewhat of a "subjective" thing as better can have different meanings depending on an individual's desires & needs? To some the Fearful/Fealess cabs may very well be "better". To others, that may not be the case......
Nothing that involves naugahyde amps blowing up on stage is off topic.Okay, you made me drool with the old plush amp... that was my first amp. Sadly, mine ended its life with a flashpot inside of it. We thought it would look cool onstage to blow it up... but we found out that naughahide really stinks when it catches fire. Oh the seventies were a fun time to gig. But that's way off topic...
"Better" is something people seem to toss around as if it should mean the same for anyone... despite the fact that it's a misguided premise at best. Or wishful thinking.
The "required data" wouldn't change what I heard, be it a fear cab or anything else.
Brad:. Two years later my Tank 1212 still rocks!

Please Continue.
Yeah... but can you prove it?

Here are a couple of gig pics. The first one is fuzzy but still a favorite... it lead a TBer to ask me why I would use this instead of an SVT, which I thought was a pretty funny question. The answer was that even on a big stage I preferred the little 1012 over what the SVT did. And apparently that baffles people who I guess can't understand someone not preferring what they prefer. It didn't baffle the guitarist with the 412 or the drummer with that little kit. I think the room held 1500+. Drove the cab with a Bugera Veyron Mosfet.

This was last week with my Quilter Bass Block 800. Pardon the cheap basses.

I guess the thing I'll never understand is this Highlander mentality where there can only be one. For what I use to be good or even great, other things need to be bad. Sorry but if someone could explain how that's not just plain dumb I'm all ears.
Boom bad indeed.

Yes! Little wump but loud and crystal clear. Thanks! Was originally going to make it a la Fender tweed, but this made more sense and well matches all my amps!!!Little wump?
Nice piping.
Hey Brad!
Welcome to Talkbass!!!!! BTW---Brad and Drew are really nice guys and are sicere about their products. I have to reluctantly admit experiencing a little shadenfreude in reading this thread! I'm pretty used to this stuff. I've been told by the "experts" here how and why my cabs don't work. By guys who have never heard one. Fortunately Bass Gear magazine and a bunch of European publications don't agree. All I can say is---don't get drawn into an argument with them. Many are shills for other manufacturers.
