I like sunglass for bright lights, city lights. I'll occasionally rock them for something like my avatar -waiting to take some promo pics in the 90 degree sun...the lead singer was douch-ing around as usual and all I could do was put on the shades and face into the breeze.
I think they can help with less distraction, singing/playing with eyes closed, checking out babes. For social situations I think sunglasses after dark or indoors is much more douchae' - either they like to lie a lot or stoned silly.
I have a massive collection of truly bizarre 70's sunglasses - thanks for reminding me to surprise my new-ish bandmates with some.
I'm 53 with shoulder-length hair and play bass - social pressure is not something that get's me under pressure.

Wear what you want - visualize coolness and make it so.

That wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the bandana. You could kinda get away with one or the other, but not both.

Yes, unless you are Dusty Hill, you are outside (during the day), you are blind, have some other eye condition, or a sunglasses company is sponsoring you or the gig. It is a true sign of someone who is totally insecure of themselves.

which brings us to the age-old point of contention: visual douchebaggery quotient of clip-on tuners.

Just call me vain - but I' wouldn't wear either sunglasses or clip on tuners at a gig.

Am acceptable exception can be made for sunglasses worn in hair (if abundant and of a sufficient length)
