At age 67, I’m more worried about finding my keys at the end of the gig....
I played in a band once where the BL (rhythm guitarist) was going out with a woman who was paranoid about groupies and women hanging around with the band...... she was controlling and didn't like it if he spoke to another woman or another woman spoke to him.
once she was at a gig and a woman came up and asked BL if we knew XXX song.... his G/F came up to the woman and slapped her in the face and said "get your hands off him - he's MY partner"!!! - that's how paranoid she was...... we asked BL why does he put up with this cr@p and his reply was "she gives me good blowjobs"!
Drummer told BL he needs to find another woman to suck him off, because he's had enough!

When this happens, the relationship affects the band far too much. So indeed, time to find another girlfriend or another gig!
at my age it's more droopies than groupies
Not that I ever had groupies it was a concern. Now she will come hang at some gigs with a group that follows us. She sees that I just come to play. At one time I played in a band with a young female. She didn't like that at all. Made life difficult no matter what I did. It got better when the girl left her husband to pursue a lesbian lifestyle.
OK, I'll bite. Which lifestyle? The one with cats and wine, the one with lipstick and sharp suits, or the one with combat boots and lots of body-hair?
to those who are sure all groupies developed diseases and died, back in the early '90s i had a friend who was a groupie (she called me once, all excited, from a rock star's house). she always carried protection with her and got them to use it, too.
The ring doesn't stop men or women, to some it's a challenge and others they figure you might have less kooties the single people who sleep around.
