Isolated bass tracks!

I actually played "Carry On Wayward Son" in a band in college. One of my favorite songs to play! Dave Hope is a fantastic player. If you can find "Magnum Opus", give that a listen.
P.S. I have an excuse, I grew up in the 80s!
The isolated tracks are so great. You can really appreciate the incredible talent and technique of the greats as well as hearing some details you can't hear in the recordings.

Listening to Geddy's isolated bass tracks made me realize timing is more important than anything. When recording our band latest album I made sure that the bass+drums were nice to listen to instead of my old mindset of "It'll sound better when the rest is recorded".

this is one of my 'go to's' if i wanna hear some bass isolated tracks:
I like the isolated bass tracks sometimes, but I also really really like visualizations like this where you can "see" the bass in context:
I'm there with the oh yeah. It is cool to hear what they are doing really, some bass licks of which I found to be lost in the mix that I would not have ever heard if it wasn't for the isolation.
I got that video on my phone, frickin awesome Bass lick. I plug my active 18v 3-band EQ Bass guitar into about 5 pieces of rack mount Bass effects gear and into my BOSS GT-6B Bass effects processor with total custom settings into my tascam CD trainer with my Audio-technical M-50 headphones. Then I plug a double 1/8" male stereo auxiliary cable from my Razor M phone to the line in on the CD trainer, and crank up my Bass guitar to a bunch of YouTube vids and about 350 songs i got on my phone all offline viewing and listening to all my favorite music. I take a SR600 4-string Bass with 2 Music man double humbucking pickups and put the blend knob all the way over to the neck pickup and set my effects to the fattest Fender P-Bass sound with stainless steel round wound strings and jam that KANSAS song, Carry On My Wayward Son with Bass only song and that is some fun jamming. I do the head phone thing at night not to bug the neighbors. With those head phones and my equipment it sounds just like a concert, fun fun fun, and no cops at the door saying lower that damb music.
I've always been a Zeppelin fan, but never learned any of their tunes until recently (our guitarist is a fanatic). This sealed the deal for me:
I listen to them to help learn bass lines to a song when I'm having trouble hearing it in the original mix. If it's something more complex I will convert the Youtube video to an MP3 and play it through Audacity at a slower speed until I get it down.
