Any “famous mud” you’re hearing is all him or the amp. You couldn’t get mud out of one of those pickups on a bet. But that’s what happens when you have somebody who’s not (by his own admission) a bass player demoing something like a Victory.
And all that clank! What’s up with that? His technique is so bad he might as well have been playing it with a drumstick or a mallet. Those pickups are very touch sensitive by design. Slam on a Gibson Victory or dig in too aggressively and all it’ll do is bark at you. And it’s not a pretty sound when it does.
