Supposedly more neck contact gives more sustain. Also can provide a little extra weight and can “center” a bass on your body (less neck dive) if the builder is real savvy. Some people just like the look. I think some single cut designs look stunning! Others, less so.

Yep. There’s the esthetic but, to me, moving the strap button out a few inches help combat neck dive, esp on 5+ string basses.

One advantage is that it makes those with a double cut bass feel threatened and spew snark.

That’s right, thanx. I had almost bought that first Steinberger bass back in The Day, but my left hand would kinda freak out on its own playing in the first position. Shoulda bought it anyway…

I needn't play that card with this bass when my $30 Ibanez TR50 slays the competition in P bassland, sadly it sits as my P killer out-performs all comers. thx for engaging lol
