I've been on talkbass for over four years...

Your P Bass is probably collecting dust because it's an "American P Bass Deluxe" (unless the neck profile doesn't suit your hand...). I had the misfortune to purchase an "American Jazz Bass Deluxe". The pre amps in those instruments definitely left something to be desired (they're horrible). You should either trade it for something you'll use, or pull the pre in stick in a Sadowsky or an Aguilar—you won't regret it.
I had drifted away from Ps but now I've got 3 (in a pod

Spent a lot of time in the 'burgh at the Decade (in Oakland) and then down to Primanti Brothers to get something to soak up the alcohol drool
Maybe we've crossed paths at one time or another.

Ec- great post....played the Decadea few times back in the 80's and it was a great place back then..... Missed out a chance to see a band that played there once on their first tour... Friend said they were from England that was a combo of punk and reggae and I was a metal head at the time- I laughed at him for going and now he has been laughing at me for quite some time! Yes The a Police played the Decade... Springsteen was known to show up there from time to time as well.
To the OP: Enjoy your posts and hope to see many more. I will have to check your band out the next time I make it back to Pgh!
Yeah, apparently Springsteen knew Joe Grushecky (& The Houserockers) who played there often. The Decade was a tiny club and a great place to be able to catch a national act on their way up!

That very possible, I played gigs at the Decade and soaked up more than my share of alcohol at Primanti Brothers. Of course my gigs there were as a drummer, so...
Joe Grushecky lives about a two and a half blocks from me by the way.
I got my first maple fingerboard this year and I'm in love with it. Wish I got one 20 years ago.

Maple necks are totally burrito. I like my big fat maple neck on my classic 50's Precision.
In my 9 years on TB I found there are a lot of people on here who know a lot about the subject of bass. And there are some people who care about others and helping them get through some tough times bass related or not.
I play fingerstyle and I like carrots, but I did both of those things before I ever heard of Talkbass. Nothing else on that list applies. (ATK w/ rounds through lots of pedals into a hartke rig).
I've been here 14 years.....
-I play P Basses.
-I just dug my one with TI Flats out, I'm auditioning for a Modern Country band next week.
-I play thru a Fender amp.
-Fingerstyle for me 95 percent of the time.
-I hate carrots. I didn't climb to the top of the food chain to eat rabbit food.
My favorite combo is sunburst, rosewood and a gold anodized pickguard.
Runtabegger is two hard too spell karets is easier.I have been here almost 6 years and I want to know why all the favoritism toward carrots. Why isn't there any love for the poor rutabaga?
