Yeah, he's a jerk. I was exchanging a few emails with him and he pretty much said he was going to do that. I asked him not to, and advised him of his obligation to the high bidder, but he did it at the last second anyway. I was right there at the last 10 seconds, too, and he literally closed the auction within the 10 seconds before the auction time was up, so my bid didn't even go through. I bet whoever was the high bidder at that time is pissed as a mofo right now though.

Anyway I am the opening bidder on the relist--even if he's an a-hole, I still want his bass.

Looks like it went to the end of its time and he didn't cancel it. Starting time: Mar-15-09 14:42:45 PDT, ending time: Mar-18-09 14:42:45 PDT. Three days to the second. Apparently he has no intention of honoring the sale though.

My question would be, if you have a cash offer of $700, why would you list it at $500. Seems the guy is full of......

Good luck bongo.

Again, acknowledging the guy is a steaming pile, but his re-list had a BIN of $700 and an opener of $500. I decided to take the opener on the odds that if nobody was fighting hard for it at the end of the first auction, maybe there'd be minimal competition at the end of this one, and I can score it closer to 5.

OTOH I wouldn't be too surprised if Ebay shuts him down for a rules violation, wrecking my odds completely.

You're probably safe from eBay, they move at a snail's pace on things like that. If it's not out and out fraud anyway. And as much as eBay spouts that "your bid is a legally binding contract" I've never see them enforce it in the 11 years I've been using the site.

Logic would seem to be on your side this time since no one wanted to go much over $300 before. But then, this is eBay we're talking about. Good luck!

Awesome pics, guys! Reminds me of the MIJ Futura EX I bought in the early 90's! My first "good" bass...really regretting having it painted, and then sold. Be nice to have it around still, as it was a really good bass...
Now off to Ebay!

So ... time to post a pic from another Jacksonbird :ninja:
