I really need to find the right light to get a good picture of this.

It sucks, because outside you don't see the black, and inside the orange and red and yellow don't stick out. It's tough to photograph, but in real life- look out. :)
It always gets a double-take!

Oh, I know the looks it gets! I remember when I had mine, I'd practice out on the balcony of my apartment using my old Bass Rockman as a headphone amp-I used to get some looks from people in the parking lot:D:D:D And no, even though it WAS the 80's, I wasnt doing scissor kicks or anything crazy...it was a fairly small balcony, 3 floors up.

For proper lighting-how about daytime, indoors with a lot of ambient light (but not direct sunlight). I have an old pic my dad took in our house and the color shows up pretty well.

BTW-do you know if Charvel/Jackson would still do this finish?

Just tried to look at the Jackson Custom Shop for their order form but the link took me to a "page not found".

I also have a Charvel 475 Ltd Edition guitar in platinum crackle. Looked for one for years (literally !) and kept finding those darn fire-crackle finished instead :D

I eventually found one some 20 years after I first played one :bassist:

I got into the Jackson/Charvel thing as my fave guitar player is Phil Collen from Def Leppard. I am also a Kip Winger fan as well, but I bought Jackson instruments because they're so good not because my fave players played them :D

I used a Jackson very similar to black PJ in the late eighties. It was a very nice bass. Metallic fuchsia. Nice!!!

It played like a dream and had killer tone. I would probably still have it if it were not stolen in the early 90s. I don't know that I would play it out, but it would be nice to have to record with.

I had a 1986 Jackson concert bass custom shop.. it was extremely well made and quality.
It was black and had a thunderstom airbrushed in it with phosoresence lightning.
It only had piezos and it sounded HORRIBLE and needed to be set up every other week.
I was glad to get rid of it BUT I would have loved to hang it on the wall... seriously nice looking bass

That's funny, yet very true. I had a few of the piezo basses and they were really not for me either. The Jackson graphic series piezo's were awesome looking. Jackson basses had killer graphics.

I did own a bunch of USA neck-thru basses that I do believe were great basses and at the time I was really into them. Solid basses and it was the time of the pointies!!!:bassist:

Jackson bass owners-Jackson bass owners- come out, come out wherever you are :D here's a nice 87 3B I picked up not too long ago, and as soon as I get it this week, I'll post pics of my 1B black/maple I just bought.

HEY ROB---you still have Ellefson's white 92 p/j Bird?

Congrats on your cool 'Jackson Collection!'

André
hey Andre, glad you check the email alerts from time to time!!!

this was too clean to pass up for 300 with a TKL case that still has all the latches and hinges intact. AND no wood missing from the headstock tip..unbelievably clean.

so ya now I have the 1B,3B, and the TBX.. I found out that the 3rd digit is the year made for imports, and it is a 1987 model year....

Oooh!!! Now that pic is 'le sex'!!

I have the exact same Kip Winger bass as yours in a darker colour (see below).... but I'd love one of the Jackson birds to join my Fernandes/Spectorbird! :bassist:

give Andre 3 grand for his sparkleGreen one...he's over there near you, so you won't have to pay shipping costs overseas or import taxes.. ---OR:

"Proud SPECTOR endorsee - 16 Spectors!" <<< trade him 2 Spectors for 1 TBX deal from your collection then you and him can be twins one Winger and one TBX each....I would say me, but I only have 1, and if I sold it, I would NEVER find another one....;);):D
