I never liked the switch because of the lack of tonal possibilities with the lack of "blending", so this one has 4 knobs, but my middle knob is a push-pull so I can split the coils for the j40/HB because my inspiration for modding my model 2 came from a white 85 USA concert just like yours but the passive version.

Congrats! Please post a full review when you get it. I just rescued a black forest CMG from a pawn shop yesterday for two fitty.

turns out they didn't have any of the JS3V 5 stringers, in black in stock, and i'd have to wait a month to get it, so i switched to silver burst, like yours, anonymous. ill post pics when she gets here, hopefully next week. i haven't been this excited for a new bass in a long time!

look what showed up this morning:

turned out that as they were packaging the silverburst to ship out to me, a black one came in, so gearhounds called me and asked if i still wanted the black one, so i said yes. then, bright and early this morning, fedex dropped it off. i've been playing it all day. it is one of the most comfortable basses i've ever played. the neck is fast, it has super low action, and the strings are spaced nicely. like anonymous said, it's really light too. i couldn't be happier!

So I got to finally answer my own question about the feel of the new JS3 and was surprised at how well this bass plays. It has the old school Charvel neck as apposed to the newer CMG which has a more narrow Jazz bass neck. Neck cutaway was unexpected as well. Great feel and sound as sold. Guess I shouldn't have been too surprised. It does say Jackson on the headstock.

you'd get more for the 3b but if it was me id sell off the 4b first. I'd buy yours but I already have a white one ;)

there's a tricolored soloist on e.bay, too many days to go still to see how much it will sell for.

yeah, the 4B would probably be the one to go too. i don't think im ready to part with that neck-thru 3B just yet. what are the 4B's going for anyway?

yeah, i guess you guys are right. i didnt even realize it was only $50 more to be honest.. i guess ill just do that. still gotta decide which bass is going though. most likely the 4B, but im still gonna be sad to let it go.. even though its only $350, im still pretty tight on money these days. if for some reason i come into a large sum of cash for no reason, i wont sell off any. that'd be nice =)
