Lemme ask you guys, I recentl got Jacos biography, and I'm wondering, is it pronounced Jaco with a J, or does the j sound like a Y to make Yaco?

Well, did you listen to the Jaco: The Early Years CD that comes with the Bill Milkowsky book?
His name is mentioned several times.
It's pronounced with a J.
His name is also mentioned in the Modern Electric Bass instructional video (You can YouTube it.) when Jerry Jemmott greets Jaco at the beginning.
None yet. I will call them tomorrow. I know Kevin hates doing Jaco necks, so it may be a while. (sigh)
I called, but they're out for the holidays. I had a discussion with one of the assistant managers at the GC near me. He also shared my thoughts on Kevin's slow-paced schedule, but he and a lot of people told me its worth the wait. I will let you know when I get more info.

You pronounce it JAY-CO , ah the wait on this bass is killing me if i was bassgod i would have lost it by now.
Any idea "why" he hates doing Jaco necks? Is it because it is so tedious to get it the way he wants it, or is it painful/sad for him to do Jaco necks for someone other than Jaco? Like most folks my age, I've lost my share of friends and family, and some things...I just can't do anymore because it is too painful.
Because it's a tedious, time-consuming process.
I think Kevin may harbour some sad feelings about Jaco, but I have a feeling that he's made peace with it. Kevin is unlike any luthier I've met in that he's kind, considerate, and actually listens to your request. Most importantly, he doesn't act like a know-it-all.

I went to Kaufman's to drop off my other Sterling for setup, last night. It's been 9 years since her last visit to a luthier, so I figure it is time.
Of course I ask about my Jaco. He said he's starting his "longer" projects (my bass) next week after he wraps up setting up the new BB King Blues club, in town. So, I will wait longer, but oh well. I have no choice. In any event, he was super nice about it and gave me some insane parts price quotes for my Ibanez refurb, I'm starting.
I did meet his new employee who does the setups for him. Her name is Holly, and this chick is a badass. She did the setups on my other Sterling, Joan Rivers, and red Squier refurb. It's just cool to see a female with that much mechanical skill. Hell, when I got there, she was tearing apart and cleaning lugs on a bass drum. I guess Kevin specifically had her come down from New York to help him out. Kevin and Holly have both setup my Squier on separate occasions, and I thought they both did terrific work. Holly even got the intonation correct on my Joan Rivers! Kudos.
My Jaco will be done on _______? More updates as I get them.
