Jaco's '63 Jazz Bass for sell???

I was under the impression he only had one bass because thats all Ive ever read about him having was the Jazz he de-fretted himself -- the Bass of Doom. Ok I was wrong, thank you all for correcting me. I wasn't trying to be a smart @ss I was just going by what (little I see now) I knew. ^_^
The bass in its condition regardless of who owned it previously is in sorry shape to be honest so one wouldn't think it would be that much. BUT considering who owned it and that explains why its in that condition, well of course its going to be some bucks. I am going to call on it just to see what the price is on it and as for what documentation it has on it. Id also like to find out if the neck on it is its original neck or just one laying around that was put on it some time ago. Is the neck on it now the one he mentioned was off being repaired in that vid or one totally different... *shrug*...and the neck to me is the heart of a bass over anything else.

To 90% of the posters in this thread, do me a favor and delete your post. You obviously don't have a clue. Then, go do your homework and come back when you know a bit more about Jaco and the instruments that he owned.
Oh god, first interesting thread in the Basses forum in a while, with potential for good conversation and already is turning into a typical internet crapfest.

+100000!!! Thats exactly what I was thinking. I was wrong and I have learned a few things on this thread regarding Jaco and owned up that I was wrong. Sheesh..had I kept strutting around in denial then by all means that other posters comments was warranted but I didn't....jeez.....I never even knew Jaco existed until I joined this board for that matter. I never heard his stuff or knew a thing about him. Glad I discovered him though and have been corrected on a few things just on this thread from what little I had read about him.
The thought had crossed my mind that his sons or someone from his family might be able to tell for sure. I say go for it and ask them.

You would, huh? I'm sure you would. Well, You can start by navigating away from this thread. Then, get on the internet, there are lots of sources for real information, including facts, about the great John Francis Anthony "Jaco" Pastorius III. Next, play bass for 20 or so years, and make sure you pickup the first couple years of Bass Player magazine. Don't forget your copies of Joni Mitchell, The Brian Melvin Trio, Herbie Hancock, and the book "The extraordinary and tragic life of Jaco Pastorius 'The Worlds greatest bass player'". Anything else?
