Jaco's '63 Jazz Bass for sell???

munching_out.gif

I call foul on that one. The article not 2 months ago showed Jacos bass RESTORED and looked nothing like this. Also look at the grove in the body near the upper horn, thats a pick trough from a pick slapping against the body from years of play. And as far as I know Jaco never used a pick, did he??? I was just watching some Jaco vids on youtube the other day and most of the wear on the Bass of Doom was on the edges not the face if I recall correctly.

We're talking about a different bass here, right?

This is not the same bass, this is fretted.

I studied the pic on the vid cover and the pic of the bass. That groove is there on Jacos and since he bought it used at a pawn shop I suppose that could be from its previous owner. But if you compare that groove with the one for sale, they dont match up totally.....

Wrong bass. This isn't the bass of doom.

Spade, just because you're wrong, doesn't mean it's automatically a HOAX.

This is his bass.

Another one of Jaco's basses sold in NYC about 15 years ago IIRC

I remember reading about this one awhile ago, and the buyer did have the 70s P-neck used in the video also IIRC I wonder what happened to it.

EDIT: Also, if you watched Jaco's video he says that the neck is at the shop and its good because P-Bass necks are better for practice since they require you to stretch more.

From what I have read, Jaco only had ONE bass...it was the '63 burst Jazz he bought at a pawn shop for like $90 I think it was....Unless there is some serious documentation on what this place has up for sale, I say its a fake. Anyone can relic a bass and scribble a 'B' on the body IMO to look the same.

Duh.. I didnt even see that LOL

Does anyone know if he had more then one bass?? And if so what they were? And where are they now?
