JAM ARTIS (Bruno Mars - BET Awards)

No bass track, just pure funk imo. The guy is a top bass player AND rehearses his dance skills probably more often than most of us practice our bass skills. You can't get to the top if you don't have skills and work ethics.

Wartch every his live performances with Bruno Mars on youtube.

I grew up believing Joe Perry played the solos on Train Kept a Rollin. That was much more criminal than using tracks, IMO.

I'm sure this guy plays just as consistently at all Bruno Mars shows. I'm just as certain his bass is tracked in all of them too. I actually can't think of a good reason they WOULDN'T use tracks. There's no jamming, it's not entirely dishonest (I'm sure he played the original parts), and it's a show. It has to be dead on. Plus, even experienced bassists won't be able to tell the difference. It's also much easier to practice looking like you're playing a perfect part, than playing a perfect part, when you're jumping around and dancing like that.

The only thing that would convince me he wasn't faking it would be a flub, or even a single note a little bit out of the pocket. I don't think anyone will find that.

I don't care how much anyone practices, nobody is 100% perfect - especially when doing moves like they are.

I won't bother arguing it anymore, but I would love for someone to prove me wrong. In which case I'll smile and say, "Ya got me!" I don't think that's going to happen though.

Nobody is EVEN arguing his great bass and dancing skills; jeesh where does THAT come from???
Yes he has skills and work ethics, that is pretty obvious.

This wasn't about his every live performance on YouTube, it was about the opening number on BET, which-
MOST LIKELY, given the routine they did- was performed with a track, which is No- Big-Deal!!

Now- unless someone who was involved within that show can pipe in- I guess it's a matter of opinion, and we know what is said about opinions...:roflmao:

+1

and +1

Same w/ EWF as an example and Verdine would have no prob saying so.

Stumbled across this by accident today. This is what it sounds like when he's really playing. It's awesome, but it's different - and he ain't dancing like a mofo!

Wow! The bass sounds great in that track w/ or w/out the Fred Astaire stuff!:roflmao:

Some posters seemed to think it was a disrespect to suggest that Jam was tracked; I don't get that. He kills it every time he plays, he's made his bones working with Bruno, so ***??!

Bruno will be here Saturday in Las Vegas. Maybe I'll just saunter backstage & ask him what the deal was at BET!
(Yeh, right!)

I was going to suggest that if the Bassist has Social Media, and responds to his fans, as some Artists actually do- That a TB-appointed rep (yeh right!):smug: contact him, and ask him about that performance in particular.

Straight from the Horse's mouth, as it were.
(It was tracked)
