Jamplay online bass lessons

Glad you're liking the site bluesman845!

Just signed up last week and made it through Billy Sheehan's 12 beginning videos.
The one thing I would like to see is the Games on the bass side. Fretboard Memorization, etc. That's one of the main reasons I signed up.
Besides that, no issues or complaints with it.
Yeah that's something we're hoping to get setup sooner rather than later. Thus far, our main focus has been on content development instead of some of the teaching tools. My apologies for the delays on getting those up & running!

Before the games go up it would be nice to see a BASS section in the forums so we can communicate amongst our selves and the instructors ;)

The entire site is worth it just for Evan Brewer's lessons. Anyone who wants to give their slap technique a boot up the ass should check his lessons out. Plus his series is great for beginners too. He starts right at the beginning and moves forward at a steady pace, from getting your fingers acquainted with the bass to playing 16th note slap pops on one string.

Good call. I just setup a few forums for bassists. Enjoy!

I certainly don't want to take anything away from the other instructors...but Evan is absolutely amazing.

I wouldn't mind checking out the guitar lessons. After working like a dog for the past 15 years I'm finally working less hours which of course, translates into finally having time to practice. I want to get back into writing and could use some help with chords.

You should also check out TrueFire.com.. I recently started a course by Invalid Link Removed that was outstanding. The site is mainly geared towards guitarists, but they do have several bass courses. You can either pay 10-20 to download the lessons, or pay a monthly fee to access all the content via the web. You can get 30 days for free to try it out....

Awesome! Very cool move by you. Because you know we bassplayers are made of money ;)

Seriously though, I'll check out the site. Thanks for helping to give something to bass players who seem to be mostly forgotten.
No problem at all. I'm confident you'll get a lot out of the site. We have a dozen or so bass instructors coming out to film over the next three months, putting together a ton of amazing lessons. We're excited to get them filmed and released!

Per your guys' request, we've setup a coupon code for TalkBass users.

Just use coupon code talkbass13 when signing up and you'll receive $30 off the yearly membership, bringing it down to $109.95 (~$9/mo).

Awesome! Thanks for that. Are Billy Sheehan's lessons the same as the lesson books and DVD's Billy released? If so, I already have those, but would certainly be interested in what the other instructors have to offer.

What is up there now is very high quality. I signed up for the free trial and them used a bassplayer mag promo to get a full month for 1/2 price. The only thing that's missing is more intermediate and advanced lessons
We have a dozen amazing bass instructors coming to our studios in the next 2-3 months, with am emphasis on more intermediate/advanced lessons. Rex Brown, Dave Larue, Doug Wimbish are coming out, along with a handful of great Berklee / college-level instructors.

Nope the lesons he put together for us are exclusive and unique. I'm sure there's some cross over, but probably not much!

I just upgraded my membership to a full year using the discount code. This is one site I'm going to get a lot out of. Anxious to see more intermediate/advanced lessons.

Al in Orlando
Welcome to the site! We're excited to get some of these more intermediate/advanced lessons online for you guys also! They're coming soon; no worries!

I am really enjoying the lessons as well. One request I have to the instructors is to explain what they are doing using intervals. i.e. I'm on the G chord and it goes root, 3, 5, 7, octave etc.
Some of the instructors do this on occasion but other times it's hard to watch their fingers moving so quickly without them explaining what they are doing.

Jamplay... good news! Really looking forward to seeing some of the new stuff in the coming months and strongly considering going with a year membership using the TalkBass promo.
Cool man looking forward to having you!

I'll pass this on to our content team for consideration as they move forward filming additional lessons. Your feedback is much appreciated - thanks!

I was having a heck of a time getting my head wrapped around intervals, scales and chords until I came across Feebo's Lesson 14 "Practical Music Theory". He takes off the bass and shows you how scales and chords look and sound on the keyboard. Then, Freebo puts the bass back on and demonstrates what he just did on the keyboard.

Once i saw the relationship between the black and white keys and the fretboard on my bass, it was like a light bulb got turned on for me! I've watched this lesson 3 times now and I can't recommend Freebo's other lessons highly enough. As far as I'm concerned, my Jamplay membership is the best investment I've made in furthering my musical talents.
