An ants nest.... by your feet. So rather than move or something, you sat on your janky amp to play your janky bass.
I am moved, sir. Not worthy.
This is an example of A Jank Supreme.

thank you for your observation sir. it was a choice of ants nest or near the bushes where the cobras hang out, i chose the ants nest. the janky bass ( a 1959/61 fenton weill) has now had a total rebuild including new fretboard and frets, pickup rewind,and new electrics. it still has a little jankyness about it but now plays like a demon.

the krates are worse. smaller and faster and not easy to identify at night. fortunatly they are usualy asleep, but not allways.
ps the nearest DECENT hospital is about 1 hour away. its good that snakes generaly feel vibrations through the ground and make themselves scarce but you do have to keep your eyes open. getting bitten turns a human to jank pretty quickly.

check out the originals. this one was cut using the original plate but with a bit more curve on it. i had to follow it closely as it hides a multitude of sins. also the fret positions on the originals

were just plain guesswork. they are often refered to as martian cricket bats. fortunatly this one now plays realy well. john entwistle used one early on.

Did your Fenton Weill never have a little red scratchplate glued to the original? Or was there one originally that went missing.

Interesting that you replaced the fretboard- I've done the same thing on the matching guitar, for the same reason- if you're going to do a rebuild, you may as well have the frets in the right place

yes mgeek it did have a red scratchplate but it fell off. the red star on the headstock is made from a bit of it. it intonates perfectly now and plays and sounds fantastic.

just found a pic with the"factory fitted " pickguard. as you can see the very idea of following the contour was considered a no no by them ole fenton boys.

Updated Janky rig...

My rehearsal rig for a hard rock/metal band that practices way too loud:

Late '70s Yamaha G100-II guitar head and a well used Sonic B610T. After a couple hours of use, the heatsink is barely warm.

My Janky-A rig grew a pair!

Swapped out the Sonic 610 with a Sonic "SBT". I'm planning on making the 610 my gigging cabinet as it's not too bad to haul around.

Seems my janky rig took a stanky crap on me. The input on the 'ringer 2/10 finally went boobies-up like I've heard they do, and the Crate 1/18 seems to have developed some flatulence. Probably replace the speaker in the Crate and ditch the 2/10 for a 4/10 of more reputable build.

I could, and might. But honestly, I've been jonesing for a 4/10 for some time. But I should just fix the 2/10 to give myself more options. Or leave it sounding all janked-up.

If you're close enough to Wilkes-Barre, [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] would be a perfect Janky 4x10.

Also in Wilkes-Barre, [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] would be a much better buy (and I understand if you modify the crossover to run the woofers full-range they sound really good too).

If there are any Sonic B410s available to you, I'd whole-heartedly recommend one of those. Dirt cheap on the used market, built in the US, feature nice heavy duty Eminence speakers and they sound great (or the 2x10, 6x10 and 8x10 Sonics that I've owned have/do).

Here's my jankity jank practice amp, It's a rogue RB-120BT head that I cut up and modified to fit on the side of a home theater sub box with a 20 watt rogue speaker in it. It sounds like a dying cow.

Jankiest thing I have a pic of:

Old Mark IV and a Yamaha S215 cab suitably painted to represent the inner sleeve of Led Zep IV.

I played a lot of gigs with this cumbersome combination, and it put out some pretty respectable SPL.
The head cost me $200 and the cab $150.
Both were like new, traded the amp for a Traynor 45 watt tube head, which I traded plus cash for a tube guitar combo, and sold the cab for $300.

Jankiest rig I ever had, sorry no pics, was a pair of Bassman 50 watt heads (paid $75 each) through a Fender 2X12 cabinet (paid $60) with 2 15" speakers jammed into it.
Not all that loud, but farted out almost instantly!
All that crap is long gone.
