Whatever you have handy and make work is the grail. Inspiration comes from unexpected places.
That was a piece of sponge I found in my old box of art supplies, it was used to touch up my work on paintings in my college days. It's so full of mojo, I might have to list it on Reverb

I may be out-janked by a few posts here, but this is my contribution to this body of jankology. The Carvin, Ashdown, Peavey stack of doom! This is right before I decided to live my life right and get a pair of GK 112 cabs.
That's respectable function-jank. Cool photo; I am really digging the percussion kit—miked up foot cajon!!!— and would have loved to have heard that performance.

Thanks! Yeah, I've been playing with that dude since I was like 15. Not only is he a great drummer, but a great vocalist and an all-around man of good taste. This group is our trip-hop band. Or was, in the before times. PM me if you want a link to some of that stuff. Fun project.

I have so many pieces of foam of varying density and composition but none of the them have really done the trick. Still looking for a not-too-dense rubbery foam. Maybe I need to get myself a vintage box of art supplies.
Here's a tip from the fine folks in the Glarry thread:
Use a Magic Eraser sponge. You can usually find them at the dollar store. They work great for holding up pickups as well!
HH V-S Bassamp plus Two rat clones and a boss powerstack - currently using it on my rhythm guitar hi gain experiments although half of this gear get used in my bass rig as well.

I like those light-up graphics on the HH amps, cool. Your slaved configuration reminds me of this photo of Weedeater's Dixie Dave Collins, which I sometimes look at to remind myself to pick up a bass and not give AF. You can sort of make out his similarly slaved Sunn setup and the pair of 2 x 15 cabs.

Thanks for the pic . yeah he deff don't give AF Hahaha - and he has the sickest tone !!! - saw him / them - play at Blitz in Oslo And I think I remember he had a pair of Mesa boogie 2x15s there as well - was an absolutely killer set - Glad I made it to that gig before all the lock downs . Cheers for the reminder !

1: Free hand me down Holmes PA head through a $75 2x15 Peavey Vocal Projector 215HT cabinet with missing horns and radioshack tweeters. Actually sounded pretty good
2. Haunted Standel Studio Artist 410. Cost $5 because Cliff Major bought it for the speakers and sold it to me as/is. I converted into a head/1x15 stack with a paper cone radioshack 15. Was factory potted with black sludge. Once shocked one of my drunk friends who touched a water pipe when he gigged with it. Was most likely haunted. It caught on fire and green flames came out. I don't think it was turned on.

I want to know if it was plugged in when the green flames started coming out.
That's a valid question. I am not sure but it could have been either way, pretty sure it was because I angered the poltergeist that lived in it by playing rambling jammy acid fusion on a pink Peavey Foundation as the lead instrument in a punk band (that had another bass player playing, you know - bass)
That sounds cooler than the dual bass playing in, say, Ned's Atomic Dustbin. That poltergeist needed to hit the road. Presumably it all worked out eventually.

Unfortunately that project was somewhat short lived and did not produce the earth shattering effect we were expecting. Actually I don't know what we were expecting, but it was fun times in it's own The Descendants meet Phish kind of a way... I would not be adverse to being in another band with 2 bass players. I've also jammed with 2 drummers ala NIN/Course of Empire/Grateful Dead/etc and it was always fun, maybe a two drummer, two bass - no guitars project
Yeah, I'd think that would be pretty fun. In fact I kind of want to try some two-contrasting-bass antics myself at some point.
Maybe @NoiseNinja will see this and weigh in. I've heard some of his old band's stuff where he, if I'm remembering it right, was the "exploratory bass," and that stuff rocked. It kind of reminded me of the post Jane's Addiction band Deconstruction. But with more bass density. You got your ears on, NN?

Yes, I played the sort of "lead" bass in a sort of hardcore and noise rock inspired math rock band called Menfolk in the early/mid 00's, that also featured another bass player who had a more traditional supporting bass role.
You can listen to anything they released on their Bandcamp page for free, I only played on the first two releases though, the 2 track single "Double Date" and the 4 track EP "Are We Enemies", after that I left the band, and my role was taken over by a nice guy and great bass player who had been a fan of our band.
A decision I have since regretted, among other things made me miss the opportunity to play a gig at Scandinavian's biggest rock festival, the Roskilde Festival, where the band played shortly after the release of their first full length album, titled "Colossus", where, while I don't play anything on that record, helped compose a couple of the tracks on it, among that the opener "Hell is in Texas".
