I'm going to guess the sound from that rig is less janky than it is squanky, so you can see where letting us hear it would be mandatory.

The sound of that combination with a clean blend...that would be a cool niche pedal preamp.

I'll do my best, but the Minx is having output issues, I can barely hear it over the Decade. I'll be digging into it this week, can't be too hard to fix.

I picked up a Hartke 410 XL cab for $80 today. After grooming the garage-fresh black rat fur with a shop vac and a electric trimmer, it cleaned up pretty well.

I pressed my Peavey M-3000 power amp back into service. And a Zoom B1Xfour a bandmate got me for a gift recently.

I picked up a Hartke 410 XL cab for $80 today. After grooming the garage-fresh black rat fur with a shop vac and a electric trimmer, it cleaned up pretty well.

I pressed my Peavey M-3000 power amp back into service. And a Zoom B1Xfour a bandmate got me for a gift recently.

Bonus points for putting the expression pedal on top of the head, necessitating the "Double Steve Harris Leg Lift" to reach it. Spandex is your friend here.

One time I was sitting in traffic behind a Range Rover and saw that on the tailgate was a badge that said "Sport HSE."

it occurred to me that if I guy found some other badge and did a little cutting and rearranging, you could change that to "Spurt HoSE."

Fun prank?

with that in mind, I was thinking the Hartke badge could be changed too.

If I could find an exclamation point, "Hark!" might be fun.

Or "art."

@mysteryclock ...Ha! Yeah, that unit is new to me and I haven't really explored the expression possibilities yet. Right now it's configured as a volume pedal as I just use it as a big hand operated volume knob. I'm pretty much a one-sound guy, and the benefit of a little modeler like that for me is as an all in one tuner/compressor/tone shaper to drive the power amp, and which can run on batteries, saving me from dealing with one more cable and power source.

But Spandex, yeah, that's a good thought.

@Razman requested that I share my super low budget 8" cab build here. I guess use of a $16 Pyle driver and warped scrap plywood gets the smell of jankiness wafting around the ankles like a cheap fog machine. The lack of engineering knowledge of the maker (me) is like a kid with his first pocket knife. Yikes.

My current band practice rig has reached higher heights of jank this summer: I discovered that the Joyo British Sound pedal I like to use for bass DI recording at home has enough output to drive my Crown power amp when it's on the 0.775V input sensitivity setting, and it makes an appealingly dirty, sleazy sound.

$40 pedal, $80 power amp, $60 project bass...and it's loud enough, and I'm diggin it!

Cool compact cab! Looks notably non-janky to me despite the stated origins.
Can you comment a bit on how you like the Warwick Gnome head? I've been curious about those and have found comments and reviews spotty and sparse.

Is there a compressor/limiter function that kicks in at higher gain settings? Does the tone itself stay pretty clean all the way up or does it get dirrrrrrrrrrty?

Are you talking about the two orange things on top of the cab in the blurry first pic?

If so, those are the removable port plugs that screw into rubber inserts in the AK cab's two rear-facing port tubes. AK cabs come with those so you can plug or unplug some or all of the port tubes to tailor the low end response; I always like mine best with both unplugged.

Don't recall if I've posted this, but it's a bargain 410 cab (EAW origins I believe) converted to a ported 210 by yours truly, the back cut away and closed in to make room for dropping in this old Trace Elliot Series 6 head. Internal volume is about right for the Eminence BP-102 10s.
It's been through some changes, it still needs a handle to use the kickback wheels on the bottom rear edge of the cab. The choice has been either tilt-back handle (robbed from a convertible hand truck) or DIY combo.
Some version of this back-and-forth morphing module has been in use for maybe 8 or so years now, looking forward to getting it back out there!
Extra jank is accomplished with an old TL-606 cab placed underneath, also extra heft.

Darn thing's functional and can gig with a rock band.
