Double Bass Jazz Licks: Bass Clef Version

Quite right. Updated the signature.

I really miss your site. :crying:
Thanks for saying it. I miss it too.

Is it just a question of hosting? Does the back-end need reworked? Does someone have the actual data?
No, that's not just the question of hosting, as backend indeed needs to be reworked to move to another stack. I do have the source code. As for the data it has not been updated/edited during the past 5 years, so there are some inaccuracies and duplicates that were eliminated in the book discussed in this thread. And yes, bopland licks data as is was stored in the database is available.

have you considered making an app with all that content? the listening / midi aspect of that site was excellent: I'm going to order the book but personally I know I would benefit far more from being able to hear the phrases as well. I'm a graphic designer, if you want to make an app I can help you out with the user interface and design.

@project_c Thanks for offering help. I have considered making an app sometime ago but didn't get anywhere because of a lack of time to develop and support it.

There has been just published a book with a compilation of jazz licks in bass clef: http://goo.gl/iNo1AL The licks are not instrument specific and may be used as repository of melodic ideas for jazz improvisation. Licks are written out in all keys. There are about 20 tunes featuring "All The Things You Are", "Days Of Wine And Roses", "Stella By Starlight" and more. I would like to give away a dozen of extra copies I have, so if anyone is interested please let me know your mailing address via PM.
How to get it. I live en Denmark.

Does anyone know what happened to the Bopland website?

There's a very preliminary draft version which is back online: www.bopland.org. Don't expect too much from it yet, though the content itself should be pretty accurate.

Hint: Append key to search query get licks in different keys, e.g. "Someday My Prince Will Come Eb" will list licks in the key of Eb instead of original Bb key. The same applies to minor keys, e.g. check out Lullaby of Birdland licks in Cm.

A few licks I personally like:

lick#772Z4OXt
lick#7Wx3xSG5
lick#jBVvX5b1

Awesome!!!

Also, where is the best place to buy the different versions of the book (i.e. what gets you the most money)? If it could help you get the site going again I would be willing to buy all the versions.
