Jazz or Precision Bass

I like the Precision Bass's wider neck. I found the Jazz to be to narrow for me to be a comfortable long term bass.
I think it's sittuational. Sometimes one just fits better than the other.
Which is why:
C) P/J

For me its all about the 2 different tones, P has more boom, where as the jazz has more pop. They are both great tones, but IMO its the P.
No doubt these are BOTH FANTASTIC instruments, and it isn't that i hate the Jazz, i just found the Precision bass more comfortable. Jazz does also have a nice tone.
So which is heard more in a mix in your opinions? I read a lot of posts on here of people saying "my jazz is buried in the mix". Seems like either should work fine.

I own both, but for many years I leaned heavily on Precisions. Over the last couple of years I've been selling off the Precisions and buying Jazzes. A light bulb went on in my head, and I hear what other Jazz afficiandos have been hearing. It's like starting over with a fresh pair of ears. I'm at 5 Jazzes (and counting) and 1 pure P Bass (a couple of hybrids with P bodies and J necks in there too).
I play my P bass much more than My J bass, for no real reason other than my P bass is on a stand and my J basses are in their cases, but I do like both.
Try them both and buy what YOU feel comfortable with.

I love my Jazz. It's my main bass. However, Im looking to pick up a Precision. But I'd still go with Jazz.
PERFECT ANSWER! i use a P/J combo..i like the looks of a p body! i like the profile of a jazz neck, i like the boom of a p pickup, i like the buttery snarl of a jazz pup when needed...guess what i have ALL these feature in ONE BASS!

since this isnt on your selection list then i opt for the answer of CARROTS
My prererence: J bass body with one P and one J pickup, P neck with 1.75 width. I like the wider neck.
I never considered getting a P/J combo until I just posted this thread. Glad I did because bells and whistles are going off in my head.
With the P vs. J battle you also have to factor in, IMO, if you play fingerstyle more or with a pick. I feel that the difference becomes even bigger when that is a factor. Sometimes, to me, a P looses that SOLID low mid when playing with a pick. I've heard it described as a "hollow grind" before. With the right setup though the P can be very solid. Michael Anthony's P on Van Halen I is one of the best bass tones I've ever heard, period.

I can get better tones out of the P... tones that I personally like.

I don't exactly hate jazzes, some bassists are wonderful with jazzes.
I just like a raw P bass... I'm a carnivore, it's like a raw steak.
I've owned one and played a lot of jazzes to know they aren't for me.
